Never stop the car on a drive in the dark
Never look for the truth in your mother's eyes
Never trust the sound of rain upon a river rushing through your ears
(Ah-ah-ah-ah)
Arriving somewhere but not here
Did you imagine the final sound as a gun?
Or the smashing windscreen of the car?
Did you ever imagine the last thing you'd hear
As you're fading out was a song?
(Ah-ah-ah-ah)
Arriving somewhere but not here
All my designs simplified
And all of my plans compromised
All of my dreams sacrificed
Ever had the feeling you've been here before?
Drinking down the poison the way you were taught
Every thought from here on in your
Life begins and all you knew was wrong?
(Ah-ah-ah-ah)
Arriving somewhere but not here
All my designs simplified
And all of my plans compromised
And all of my dreams
Did you see the red mist block your path?
Did the scissors cut a way to your heart?
Did you feel the envy for the sons of mothers tearing you apart?
(Ah-ah-ah-ah)
Arriving somewhere but not here
I listen to a lot of jazzier stuff too, especially in the evenings and around dinner time, when I want to wind down, but my taste there is more eclectic, and none of those artistes would be an overall favourite.
And so my #PorcupineTree#StevenWilson collection begins!
I don't think that my taste in music has developed enough before now to give this a proper listen, despite endless recommendations.
I've had a lot of guidance from people on here about personal favourites and where to begin with such a big catalogue of work. All of it has been very welcome, unlike what I've experienced elsewhere. No eye rolling about how late I am to the party or patronising comments 😊
Mastodon is lovely 😍
I’ve been a big #PorcupineTree fan for years, and first saw them live in 2005….or so I thought!
@BenCotterill just mentioned that he saw them supporting #OzricTentacles once. I thought that would have been an amazing show, and recalled having done stage crew for Ozrics at Trent Poly in the 90s.
Guess what: Porcupine Tree supported Ozrics at NTU in December 1995, and I was (apparently) there. How cool is that!? 😎 #music#livemusic#prog
Just picked up my 37th Porcupine Tree album (plus a "best of" playlist that I put together for myself). That's the most for a single artist, by a large margin. The next closest is Rush with 24. #Music#ProgRock#PorcupineTree#Rush
