Done a couple Larn runs the last couple days, some better than others. You learn things every time. For example, hell hounds can kill you pretty much instantly. 😂
After a few years of silence, I want to share two current screenshots of my long time work-in-progress C64-styled RPG "Albareth".
It's going to be a party-based roguelike skirmish battler, in which you free procedurally generated islands from evil. I use Unity for development, because I'm not skilled enough to program on a real C64. Please expect not release in the near future. :) #gamedev#roguelike#indiedev#c64#unity
The Turn-Based Thursday Fest starts today on Steam and goes for 4 days (until April 8). It's pretty funny browsing through the list of games included, as half of them are already on my wishlist 😂
Highest I've gotten so far out of six plays, I think. Don't let this fool you. I was one turn away from a starvation death. Didn't take me long to realise food is the most precious resource.
An excellent indie #Roguelike ( Thanks @jake4480 ) that runs on current machines (Windows, Linux, MacOS, & HTML5). Frankly, very good! Good surprise! I would have liked it to be compatible with older machines, but no. Two quality PDF manuals. On my list of favorite Roguelikes! If you like this kind of game: recommended! :0)
Trying out GodoRogue tonight. It's great! You can use the keyboard commands or mouse directly to different locations, how you can see in the screenshot - the yellow line. And you can play this one in-browser. It was made in HTML5!
My pc decided to die a couple weeks ago. But I'm back up and runnin! Kinda deep down the polish rabbit hole so nothing too new to show, but here's a fancy explosion indicator for these blobby guys.
Here's another trinket coming in Shattered Pixel Dungeon's next update!
The mossy clump interacts with level generation, making level types that are filled with vegetation or water much more common. At max level you can expect to see these two level types about 4x as often each. This provides lots more opportunities for players to use grassy or watery terrain to their advantage, or even just more seeds and dew to harvest.
A time travelling robot is never late. Nor it is early. It arrives precisely when it means to! This week is the second great roguelike by Subset Games: Into the Breach! A bug-punching, timeline jumping, city saving tactics puzzler sure to tickle that brain of yours.
We are taking listener requests for an upcoming episode as well! Reply below with suggestions!
PSA: If you enjoy old school #roguelike games in the vein of #Nethack, and you've been wanting a mobile option, try Pathos, a.k.a. #PathosNethackCodex. It's free and ad free, developed by a single programmer (Callan Hodgskin), and features a few different 'codices' (gameplay modes), though I find the classic Nethack version to be the most enjoyable. Excellent touch controls, simplified gameplay that retains plenty of challenge, and 4 tilesets. Android, iOS, Linux & more!
