See the sundial and color swatches of Perseverance in Stereo3D, like if you were on board the #rover. Just let your eyes' line of sight be parallel (not cross-eyed) with left eye in front of left image and right eye in front of right image.
Good day all! I'm pretty busy just at the moment, but I thought audiophiles (as well as regular people) would find this an interesting read or listen. Steven told me about it.
"He spent his life building a $1 million stereo. The real cost was unfathomable.
Ken Fritz turned his home into an audiophile’s dream — the world’s greatest hi-fi. What would it mean in the end?"
Two stereo and / or multiple view reconstruction paper on arXiv today. I may or may not read them later : )
DUSt3R: Geometric 3D Vision Made Easy
Shuzhe Wang, Vincent Leroy, Yohann Cabon, Boris Chidlovskii, Jerome Revaud
Went to my Mom's house today to help with some decorations, came back with this!
A #stereo receiver and dual #cassette deck - everyone in my family had their own (including me) back when I was in high school (date this back to the 1990s). I think the receiver was my Mom's and the deck was my sister's.
Had to order new speaker wire and speakers, but excited to see if these will still work for playing my cassettes. #retro
New speakers (Jamo S 809) arrived and have been installed. 🥳 I'm not an audiophile, but they sound good to me. The Jensen speakers that failed were 31 years old.
As a temporary measure I had hooked up a pair of late 70s Panasonic Thruster SB-300 speakers that have been sitting in the closet for 30 years. 🙂
<that screeching sound you just heard were actual audiophiles reacting to "Panasonic Thruster SB-300."> 🤣
Oh, the new speakers were well packaged. So, what to do with some body-sized cardboard boxes? What to do...
Each side of the groove "canyon" holds separate information for the Left and Right channels. Most albums the wavy grooves are roughly equal, so this is hard to tell. It's MUCH easier to see on the test record, meant for setting up a stereo system.
