« … I urge you all to acknowledge the class of 2024 of Gaza, that no longer exists… students that will not be walking their stage this year… and 14,000 children who will never walk a stage ever again… »
Proud to be a part of this movement at #UCLA and walk along my colleagues in defense of our students and the broader principles of academic freedom, critical inquiry, and university autonomy.
Broad divestment from sponsors of state violence is—in my view—essential for the mission of an independent university. In today’s context of #Gaza, it’s even more pressing.
«This week, the Senate may pass a bill granting the executive branch extraordinary power to investigate and strip nonprofits of tax-exempt status based on a unilateral accusation of wrongdoing.»
Democrats have a narrow majority in the US Senate. tell me again how exactly are Democrats proving they are antifascist?
You can ban TikTok,
take us out the algorithm
But it's too late,
we've seen the truth,
we bear witness
Seen the rubble, the buildings,
the mothers and the children
And all the men that you murdered,
and then we see how you spin it
Who gets the right to defend
and who gets the right of resistance
Has always been about dollars
and the color of your pigment, but
White supremacy is finally on blast

"Condescension, dismissal, & misrep. from elite journalists -proves the students’ pt: should be wary of the MSM's intentions *consistently misrep.: mvt’s goals. These journalists are holding student activists to a standard *don’t hold other orgs to.
Refusing to grant students the courtesy of talking to their chosen reps *disrespect. Journalists whose job is reliant upon 1A protections should understand -protects the right to not speak."

This morning, police made more arrests at #UCLA. I held a sign saying "support free speech" and "UCLA Faculty". A woman approached me to debate what had happened, and quickly devolved from charging students with antisemitism to the efficacy of vaccines. She was an alumna. I hope our conversation moved her some, but I'm not holding my breath.
the moderates, the fascist appeasers, went really hard against anybody who were against their tactics. they literally demonized their grassroots & voting base; with mass incarcerations and violent repression.
not only did they lose most of the parliament; when it came to defend them and the whole country against the paramilitary police supporting the Nazis, there was nobody to heed the call.
YOU are repeating history, not the #StudentSpring kids & professors.
In the campus protests over the war in Gaza, language and rhetoric are—as they have always been when it comes to Israel and Palestine—weapons of mass destruction.
Rs: #1A is only for them (& most everything else):
State legs, many dominated by Rs: introduced >250 anti-protest bills since the Ferguson Uprising often supported by the many of the same forces united agst student protesters today: LE, R LEAD, pro-IL lobbyists & RW operatives.
