On #TedLasso, the adage “be curious, not judgmental” seems to mean: “Don’t assume the default option is the right one, but ask questions to find out what the situation really is.”
Personally, I’m essentially ALWAYS curious in that way. But as I’m not a perfect specimen of a human being, I still sometimes manage to be judgemental. That is: being naturally curious doesn’t automatically stop me from being judgmental, and judgment doesn’t stop me from being curious/asking questions.
Just watched the Ted Lasso darts scene for the first time in a couple years and it's still one of the best scenes in a TV show of all time, IMO. I don't even think you need to know much of anything about the plot or the characters or anything else. It's a standalone masterclass of a scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S16b-x5mRA
Finished #tv series #TedLasso. Excellent. Multiple brilliant examples of non-toxic masculinity, great writing, great actors, and just plain #funny, #kind, and #charming.
Started watching #TheBear and I have no idea why so many people compared it to #TedLasso. Instead of a nice relaxing dive into positivity, it starts off with the aftermath of a suicide and then lingers on close-ups of people's hands chopping food with dull knives until they cut themselves.
Mr Farouk in Heartstoppers season 2 is a badly written imitation of Roy Kent in Ted Lasso. Sure, Mr Farouk is actually gay, but Roy Kent’s chest hair is the representation in media gays want more.
🥥 Here's a random thought that just popped into my head:
If you're wondering how to behave on the #Fediverse, just imagine that you're a character on that show, #TedLasso.
If you haven't seen Ted Lasso, then imagine you're the kind of person your dog wishes you could be.
If you don't have a #dog, just don't be that misbehaving #cat.
If you don't have a mental picture of a misbehaving cat, just do your thing, you'll be a king -- or a queen, or something.
Live long and prosper. 🥥
It's a big difficult to watch because, from the five minutes I've seen so far, a lot of the comedy comes from culture-clash and fish-out-of-water...but it's between American and English culture? And...I'm kinda stuck somewhere in the middle of the two? I grew up on British TV as much as American TV, and I've spent about a quarter of my life working for English companies...

Don't you hate when you get a song stuck in your head - especially a really annoying cheesy one - and you know that if you say the name of the song everyone else who recognizes it will get it stuck in their head too?
Anyway...
Totally unrelated, but let's hear it for the boy. 😁
