Dużą rolę odegrała także przypominająca start-up organizacja Thorn.
Onward, #fedivoyage! This is the last stop; afterwards @blinry and I will wrap it up and look back.
I will take a look at #plume, a "blogging application". This means it's an alternative to #writefreely, which we visited approximately one year ago. So let's see!
@ajroach42 I suppose it would depend on what purpose it would serve.
For microblogging I would still go with #Hometown for being a mild Masto variant with a couple extra nice features and a maintainer who is more on my wavelength than Eugen. Apart from that maybe try #Akkoma for being a bit lighter but I am still wary if the dev community behind it... #Miskey and its derivatives are neat but seem to me to place more stress on the browser than any other front end (it makes my #pinephone run VERY hot lol)
#Peertube is still the go-to for video but IMO it does little on its own to "foster community" if that makes any sense...but you probably know what it takes to do that with #NETV
#Pixelfed looks compelling for picture/media sharing...might try that one out since it's #MadeInAlberta :blobcheeky:
Perhaps #WriteFreely for long form blogging but like Peertube it seems difficult to get traction for some reason.
Ultimately though given unlimited time I would probably make my own BBS/fourm style fedi app!
does anyone know of any good fedi front end clients that are tailored towards long form blog posts? i want to turn todiy into a multi media platform, and not just microblogging, but i don't wanna have to run a separate server/subdomain for every format! I think i like the idea of using #GoToSocial as a backend because it seems pretty flexible! i dont want my users to need a bazillion accounts lol. Im looking at #writefreely , and it would be awesome to use its front end somehow. #fediadmin
finally got ircd-hybrid and the lounge working in a state I want them to be in.
I think I might install #writefreely on the machine as well, mostly to have some sort of a website on there in case someone reaches it and doesnt' know what it is.
Podrzucam Wam linka do promocji: https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper/mw640
As an experiment I would like to try to maintain a blog by exporting threads from Mastodon to a more static format.
I hoped I could find a CLI tool resembling MastoReader, but no luck. Turns out it was really easy to do in quick and dirty Perl. So this is my new blogging pipeline:
Ok. So I set up a writefreely single user instance, but I can't find it when I search for it from Mastodon, either by URL or fediverse handle. Any ideas?
So unfortunately, for this release we'll only have Mailgun support. But I'll get SMTP support in the following release, so you can use any email provider you want to send newsletters, password reset emails, etc.
So I've decided to start that #blog I was pondering a couple of weeks ago. I'm probably going to go with #WriteFreely due to it being #Foss, #Federated and #SelfHosted. Unfortunately, not the simplest thing to set up from the #Docker image available (I think I should be able to tweak the Dockerfile to fix that though)
Scroll to the bottom; under 'Verification' and paste in the address/URL to your Mastodon profile page (e.g., https://zeroes.ca/@trendless)
Click 'Save Changes'
Scroll back to the top; right-click / two-finger click on 'View Blog' and choose whatever's closest to 'copy link' / 'copy address' from the menu that pops up
Scroll down to 'Profile metadata'; in the first field put a description for your WriteFreely Blog (e.g., #ZeroesCAWrite), in the second field paste your WriteFreely Blog address (e.g., https://write.zeroes.ca/trendless)
Click 'Save Changes'
Go to your profile; the name and link to your WriteFreely Blog should be highlighted in green.
Hello again #Fediverse, I may need your #fedihelp. So, here's a list of the Fediverse software I'm about to make temporary accounts for to test all the features and differences:
So, did I miss anything noteworthy? Does anyone have any tips or recommendations before I choose a server for any one of these? I'll probably be going for the most popular server on each for improved federation and maintenance.
Note: I'm using #Sharkey right now and Misskey forks are already overrepresented, so that's why it's not included.
Found 5 new servers found and 11 servers de-listed since 1 hours ago. Check out the Monthly and Daily Stats by software or server or the entire fediverse.
24,523 servers checked. 13,782,741 Total Users, 1,736,292 Monthly Active Users today vs 1,736,015 yesterday for the entire fediverse.
I think I know what I'm gonna self-host next:
WriteFreely.
Just today discovered it, and it seems pretty cool. and they keep saying it's easy installation.
and I also for a long time wanted to get writing more thoughtful things, unlike the nature of Mastodon.
so I think I'm gonna do that.
gonna learn as much as I can now, so I can spend the least time on the weekend to get it going.
Here's all the links to pages that inspired me this week and the people behind them.
Like I've been saying, there are some seriously awesome people out there on the webs doing very fun cool stuff. And I'm grateful they're sharing it with all of us. Thanks to you all!
There is no preview while writing, so you have to save in order to preview and when you spot something you want to change, this involves scrolling, esp. in a long post.
