I was really looking forward to upgrading my moms Huawei laptop from Zorin 16 to 17, hoping that it would fix the sound issue (the issue being there is no sound).
Unfortunately, no. The only thing that seems to have happened is that the cursor gets really big now whenever it's over a window.
Still, if that's the only issue after upgrading, that's the best experience I've ever had upgrading from one Linux distro version to another, so kudos to Zorin for that.
Since I've got a new laptop I've decided to set up my previous machine with Linux and I'm trying out some distros, or, "The agony of UX blindness in the Linux world"

Application title bars are way oversized and you can't change it. Worse of all, the titlebar buttons' click region doesn't extend to the corner. What the hell is it with modern software and the complete abandonment of Fitts's Law!??
The new #ZorinOS17 is a pleasure to use: beautifully crafted right from the masters. Gnome 43.9 really makes it smooth and clean. I love the 3D workspace switcher and the animated Alt+Tab window switcher! However, I miss the blurred theme. But it's so cool, the app menu now lets you search through the whole OS and many more! Soon, after the big release I'll publish a short video walkthrough.
Philippe, nouveau DGA (directeur général adjoint) arrivé lundi dernier, a demandé aujourd'hui qu'on désinstalle #Windows 11 de son PC portable pour passer sur #Linux. C'est fait.
La semaine dernière, tous les DGA d'@echirolles ont demandé à passer sous Linux (le DGS et tous les collaborateurs du cabinet utilisent déjà #Zorin OS depuis plusieurs mois).
Des chefs de service nous ont également fait savoir qu'ils souhaitaient basculer.

I think today is going to feature a lot of #Dreamcast - I still haven't tried Driving Strikers, the newly translated Cool Cool Toon or Nakoruru - The Gift She Gave Me. I have also transferred my Skies of Arcadia save game from my Steam Deck to my brand new VMU 2, so going from emu to hardware would be fun.
And who knows? Maybe I'll take a break and give #ElementaryOS 7.1 a shot to see if it should be allowed to replace #Zorin on my little home-built NUC-like. The improvements look nice.
It's really exciting to see Zorin OS developers star and fork different new and cool repositories, I hope many of them will make it through to #Zorin 17! 🤞
If virtual murder were possible, bloody Microsoft with pushing bloody Edge everywhere would be at the top of my list. Outlook defaulting to Edge is the latest bloody travesty.
@ppatel There's always #Linux. My daily driver is #Zorin OS because I think it's pretty and it feels a lot like Windows 7 mixed with macOS. I actually look forward to booting up my PC now lol
