I'm still corralling our Westerns. Louis L'amour reigns in the genre. Here's a 3-vol. collection of "The Sacketts" & a DVD miniseries, to boot! Take the dusty trail to our Arts section for a book of Charles Russell paintings. Saddle up & mosey in for many more!
Cursory glances convinced me this was a sand dune under a blue sky. Then, I couldn't parse how nature might produce that unusual dip in the right foreground. This isn't a book of optical illusions, but, it's cover highlights the way art can reveal quirks of human perception and provide a different perspective.
Get your berets and espresso cups! This month on #BowieBookClub we read an art history class in a single book: Beyond the Brillo Box by Arthur C. Danto.
I was looking through a big book of Andy Warhol Polaroids in the park, but had to cut it short, because Warhol with a Polaroid in the ‘70s involves a fair number of ambush dick pics.
I saw some of his art online and thought it looked like “Invisible Hands” from Liquid Television, which I LOVED. Same artist! This didn’t have quite the same level of twisted, creepiness as that animated series, but I was so happy to find his work in comic form. There’s more too.
I'm including #zines, small press stuff, and #ArtBooks in this 2023 "What I read" thread.
"Civic '99" by #BenjaminPaulKraco is a riso zine about a kick-ass 1999 Honda Civic, "Speed! Action! Violence!" Hell yeah! Before I bought it, we talked about my 1995 Toyota Tercel. Had to get this.
You can find more of Benjamin's work on Instagram @ WorldsBiggestMinecraftSbarro.
