my instance permanently shut down with zero warning and my last backup was from september, but didn't realize following exports weren't included in the archive.

Proton Drive, the end-to-end encrypted cloud storage app, is getting more like Google Drive. The Android version of the app now lets you automatically back up and manage the photos on your phone.
If you turn a dragon into a computer program you and up with a sorting, archiving and backuping solution to keep all the files you hoard along your digital adventure tidy and safe.
Is there a #backup ¹ tool for #Linux that, unlike say #duplicity, actually stores incremental diffs for large blobs/files (instead of the whole new changed file)?
It's December. In the northern hemisphere, it's time for a few months of surprise weather events which will inevitably knock out power.
When the power comes on, some computers will not come back up.
Have you got your household data backed up properly? By properly I mean:
It gets done regularly and automatically, so you don't forget
It is immediately checked to see if the copies were made successfully
You know what you have to grab on your way out / the backup will likely survive a fire, flood, and a power spike / the backup is in another castle
If you are missing one or more of those qualifications, last week was an excellent time to correct the situation -- but so is tomorrow. Just don't put it off indefinitely.
#backup now, prevent bad luck from destroying your #data
OK, so deleting inactive account data is one thing (well, two if you mean Gmail and Photos) but now people are reporting six months of Google Drive data has vanished. Active Google Drive accounts.
My story at Forbes has been updated this morning with the details.
So, my recent review of #Teslagrad
(“Official” discussion thread: https://sociale.network/@oblomov/111471523707665307) has me facing an existential dilemma about my website.
Since its inception, I've endeavored to make it as lightweight as possible, or at least to maximize its “content to weight” ratio: until recently, posts were almost exclusively text-only, except for the sporadic self-hosted and often self-written vector graphic.
(Out of curiosity, I've checked my most recent Mastodon backup, and the outbox.json is some 60MB, but I think much of that is just the medias I have posted here.)
By the way, while I'm on topic, does anybody know if there's a tool to convert the #Mastodon#backup into something browsable? I have a tool to do that with Twitter archives, but not for Mastodon, and I would really love to have one. #AskFedi
Early access on the Patreon: The LAZIEST upgrade I could make to fix my NAS! https://www.patreon.com/posts/laziest-maybe-my-93191636 There's a "right way" to do something, but sometimes it's fun to try out the LAZY way.
When my NAS struggles to stream video, what's the easiest (cheapest) way to fix that?
My MacOS Time Machine backups are really really slow (1 hour+), using a USB 3.0 5Gbps interface and spinning rust hard drive (8TB, full), even with very small backup deltas from day to day. Sometimes I need to unplug my Mac and interrupt it. Any advice out there? How much would a faster drive help?
Fehler: "cannot receive incremental stream: destination MyPool/MyDataSet has been modified".
