@wagtail its a great idea as it would make potentially any django / wagtail installation a first class citizen of the fediverse, expanding functionality in various novel ways
There are already several django based activitypub servers (I am aware of #funkwhale, #takahẽ , #socialhome) and related #python projects (#bovine, #piefed) but it seems there is zero code re-use among them.
BROCK SHOCK: #Badger culls were never about stopping #Bovine#Tuberculosis. It was about sucking up to psychotic farmers and their irrational scapegoating of anything they can't just shoot or poison into extinction.
"Badger culls are not best way to cut bovine TB, report finds
"Exclusive: #BadgerTrust analysis comes 10 years after government started culls in #England against scientific advice..."
The network effect for #ActivityPub is gaining some serious momentum right now. As more services adopt the protocol, more people, more communities and more content are added to the network making it increasingly more valuable for everyone. This will only accelerate in the coming months as Threads, Wordpress, Tumblr, Flipboard and others federate.
We're still in early innings but there's no way to put this genie back in the bottle. The open social Web / the #Fediverse is going to be huge.
This is excellent news Mike. Following your original announcement many months ago, I actually thought this was the case and created a clipboard about for myself, lolz.
It took a bit, but eventually I figured out that such integration would need to wait for a later day.
Okay, my parser now (correctly) works with objects from #mastodon, #firefish, and #bovine and covers all of AS2, JSON-LD context objects, and a few actor-specific extensions from Mastodon specifically.
I also implemented some (thread safe) caching so as to not annoy myself later.
There's a lot of spit-and-polish still required and a bunch of tests still to write to explore all of the corner cases, but I can call that good for now and move on to something else for a bit.
I just got around to taking a look at the Fediverse Pasture.
Nice! I got a few of the built-in instances running and then added my own in just a few hours.
I didn't have to change a lot - mostly the same "http" vs "https" stuff that other projects needed.
I've had interop problems with both #Bovine and #Firefish in the past, and I've hardly tested against #Mitra at all. It looks like the Pasture will let me make some progress here. Thanks @helge !
Photographed this handsome brahma in a rural country pasture & spruced him up with layers of texture for his social media debut. This breed of cows is very impressive & unique in appearance & always fun to see & photograph. An ideal image for the cattle rancher or for anyone who loves cows.
Came across some #threadiverse compatibility issues in @toddsundsted's Ktistec project posted by @rahul (← this account is a #Ktistec instance) and it made me think: I would love to have a fediverse compatibility "issueathon" where we make a super list of everything that we expect to work across the fediverse and where all the issue are at.
@toddsundsted I think focusing an interoperate-a-thon on some of these smaller server projects like #Ktistec, #SNAC, #Bovine, #Kbin, #Takahe etc would be great. I wonder what the best format would be? Set aside a weekend sometime and set up a little global event for it maybe?
