I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles because they give me a sense of peace and calm. May the puzzle bring you much pleasure and enjoyment, and may the image take you to a place of serenity and goodness.
Finished the #StarTrek#TOS puzzle! Super nice thick pieces with some interesting shapes. Entire kit is in superb condition, looking to pass it on, let me know if you're interested.
May the puzzle be fun yet challenging, and may the image take you to a place of serenity, calmness and quietude, just as if you were on that boat yourself.
TIL I'd started a very hard jigsaw when only about 8 of the edge pieces weren't completely white and there were loads of completely white middle pieces #jigsaw
May the puzzle be pleasurable and fun, and may you fall gently into the joy of fitting all the pieces together. (My wife and I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles; it's very restful to concentrate on something other than "current events.")
I love this paper! "How big a table do you need for your jigsaw puzzle?" https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.04588
It's quite light-hearted, but takes a real question - how much more space do jigsaw pieces take up when they're separated? - and works through the science step by step. There's a bit of maths in there but it's clearly explained, and you can read the rest of the paper without worrying about those details. 1/2
They then test their theory empirically and the model accuracy is very clearly shown. And Figure 4 looks beautiful :)
It could be used as a text book example of publishing science, as it requires no domain knowledge. And it's open access!
So thank you @mbonsma and co-author! 2/2 #jigsaw#OpenScience#scicomm
