It's my new favourite thing, and I've been obsessively listening to Apologies since I saw it. The way Ethan Peck pulls off a confused Spock crooning about the warp core, then wondering in song why he's doing so, is priceless. They all do an incredible job with the singing, but Christina Chong - who plays Security Officer La'an Noonien-Singh - is the standout for me. Both in the ensemble numbers and her solo. Gold.
You never quite know what you’ll run into at a North Star Auction — The Philharmonic Concert Master DA-MAR Music System (Reed Organ) — In simple terms, it’s an accordion without a squeezer.
OK, so I was cringing in advance of watching the musical episode of Strange New Worlds that I'd heard about (s02e09). But I was wrong.
It's not just a Wormhole Extreme (StarGate SG:1). They've folded into cutely into a sci-fi premise, and there is character development, and payoff for earlier events. The songs are fun, and the crew are suprisingly good singers, presuming it's all them. But if not they've matched the voices bloody well.
Saw the Moulin Rouge #musical at the China Theatre in #Stockholm. It's an amazing production. Extremely lavish. Such an enormous amount of work and talent and stage resources put in by such a huge group of people. And all of this in service of a story that was completely cliché and hackneyed already at the time when the musical is set. You need to be ten years old or less to follow it with interest. I was simply embarrassed.
actually do ignore this post this time, seeing if i can fix an elasticsearch indexing problem without modifying the database by hand by updating the last time that these hashtags were used at since the server that sent them to us gave us a busted ass timestamp in the year 11968
In tribute, @dohappybelove and I went to see “Waitress: The Musical” in cinemas starring Sara Bareilles. Well done filmed stage production with a lot of heart. Hope to make this sort of thing an annual tradition on his birthday.
Happy Birthday, brother. I know you are dancing on that heavenly stage.
Aggressive #musical hot take: Soundchecks are absolutely stupid and worthless. Whatever your EQ is when that room is empty will be gone by the time you fill that space with bodies. You really need to wait until people are IN the space, then run soundcheck. Anything else means you’re yelling at the soundperson all night.
Unpaid help, alas. You'll get an in-file credit for the feedback. Publication itself will be free.
It might be helpful if you know what a peer review is, :) but you don't need to be a credentialed academic – it will just be fun if you can pose as one!
The game was tested. It's before formatting (6 A4s, ~2k words). Takes ~15 min. to play but feedback from reading is enough for the authors.
New instance, new me?!
Probably not, but at least a new #introduction! :prami_contented:
I’m Katy, a #Chicago transplant living near #Louisville. Originally an #opera & #musical singer, I quickly succumbed to the dulcet tones of a steady paycheck & health benefits. 💸Currently a people person trying to make work work better at a SaaS company.
Just got around to watching S2E9 of Star Trek: Brave New Worlds - Subspace Rhapsody. If you are a fan of the obligatory musical episode (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Once More, with Feeling S6E7 was a classic), then you should watch! Celia Rose Gooding stole the show for me. Her songs were especially good. Nichelle Nichols would have been so proud. #startrekbravenewworlds#musical
My siblings and I all had free access to instruments and instruction here in #SouthFlorida back in the 70's, and that seemed to be a nationwide standard in most places.
I hate conservatism, neoliberalism and their selfishness and greed.
I'm working on #OpenSource The (sing-along) #Musical ! (working title) for #RedHatSummit in May. Now taking suggestions for parody lyric songs and performers!
it would especially be nice to connect with performers who are not middle aged white men of north american extraction. Enthusiasm is way more important than musical ability. 😃
