#NorthYorkshire Council to phase out #apostrophe use on #streetsigns To Avoid #Database Problems
The North Yorkshire Council in England announced it will ban apostrophes on street signs as it can affect geographical databases. Resident Anne Keywood told the BBC that she urged the authority to retain apostrophes, saying: "If you start losing things like that then everything goes downhill doesn't it?"

A bit of a sunset this evening. The day has been dull and murky and damp for most of it so it was a surprise to see the yellow round thing in the sky! I do like this spot to shoot though :) #landscape #landscapephotography #photo #photography #yorkshire #northyorkshire #sunset #dusk #daffodil #spring

ON Saturday we finally got some half decent weather! It was cold (about -3) so left home about 5.30 to capture this. I think it was worth it. I do like this spot! Hope you've had a good day today ?

I saw a 1971 report from the that mentioned this tradition might end. At that time the tradition dating back to 886 was thought to be dying out. One man blew the horn every night at 9 PM, 365 days a year. It looks as if the tradition survives at least until this article of 2021.

Taken in 2022, my mood photo (very Harry Potterish) was taken on the platform of the pretty-much-deserted Lealholm station on the North Yorks Moors line that terminates at Whitby. I had done a walk of nearly 10 miles and stopped at a bench seat to open a flask of coffee and munch on a cheese bap (bread roll or bread bun, depending on your origin). Perfect day for trekking.

Evening all I hope you've had a good day today ? Calling it a night, been a long day. I've been reviewing this year. thankfully it was better than last (not difficult since I've not had a heart attack this year, to date) But i was looking how my photos have changed to previous years. Are they better or worse? I'm not sure. Some I like, others I don't as much. I probably don't feel as comfortable as I used to do behind a camera though wish I knew why!

Anyway, I hope my enthusiasm will come back along with a better sense of composition, thats my new years wish anyway!

Have a lovely weekend hope the weather isn't spoiling anything for you !

A small prompt for action. If you're in the UK, maybe check to see if your local council is ready for winter. In Cumbria, a 2023 reorganisation has left a muddle so that my local council hasn't yet published details of Warm Spaces like the county council did last winter.
In addition, @slowe has built an open directory (linked below). Please help him add more info if you can.

Evening all, have you had a good day? I took this one at the weekend. I had to wait a little while for the sun to come out but it was worth it. Its a quiet village though and nice to live just down the street. I love autumn, best time of year thats for sure!

Evening all, I hope you've had a good week? I finally decided to go out and see if i could get some sunset shots. Though the sunset itself didn't really happen the light before it was really nice. This scene caught my eye, esp the light on the middle rock and the warm light over the valley. In the end I got back home a little happier!

From last week's trip to Whitby - Robin Hood's Bay from the cliffs.

atrailofleaves,

Also, cliffs. There were a lot of cliffs, as we walked from Robin Hood's Bay to Whitby along the coast path.
