I own it since 2013 (when 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection was released.)
I LOVE the cut. Haven’t seen anything else that fit me this great, especially around the shoulders.
I’m skilled enough to make the alterations I want.
For now, I’m marking the changes and pinning the added pieces with temporary fabrics.
No way I’m letting this one go to landfill; it’s going to be fantastic!
Desperately, desperately, I want Ravelry for sewing. MOSTLY, I want a good way to stash my fabrics somewhere digital.
I have a lot of fabric that was purchased for projects I'm not going to make anymore. My style has shifted but the fabrics would still potentially work. I just... don't fully know what and how much I have.
I guess I could create a notions thing, or obsidian locker, or a google album or something.
What are your favourite seam guides to use when #sewing? Do you use the same one every time, or vary it depending on what you’re sewing? Do you always use a seam guide, or just sometimes? Never? Do you prefer to align w/ the right edge of the presser foot and move the needle position on your domestic sewing machine? Tips? Tricks?
Personally, I try to use mine as much as possible and pick one depending on what I’m sewing (or how long it takes to install).
So very pleased with how this bag came out. If I was ever to make it again, I would have matched the brown leather top stitching thread. I thought I'd like the contrast look, and I don't hate it, but matching hides a multitude of sins.
Still, this piece is a beautiful bag that is going to last me a long time.
Harris Tweed (did you know it's a protected fabric, like champagne?) and leather. With a fun canvas lining.
Spent the afternoon in my #sewing room, making a pattern out of an existing pyjama top for my wife. I still need to trace out the sleeve, but I’m happy with my progress so far. Slow but steady. @sewing
So... I really, really, REALLY want to get better at sewing. I can sew some simple things like zipper bags, but it's like every time I completely forgot the last time and have to start over again.
I am desperate for a step-by-step for complete beginners guide that I can use to retain some knowledge and will allow me to build up confidence and skills. I don't mind if it's paid, I just want to truly improve. Any recommendations, friends?
Today's random new skill to learn. Going to attempt to tailor this t-shirt for a better fit. It is horribly cut for someone who looks like Andre the Giant, and it looks like I am wearing drapes when I put it on. #sewing
Hey there fediverse. I found this thing in with my mom's sewing stuff. There's only one, it has a slit in the end with the circle. Any idea what it is? A bobbin? Floss spool? shuttle?
A million thanks to the indie #sewing pattern makers out there who print the pattern name at the top of their print shop pages. May whatever gods exist bless you. May your bobbins stay full, may your seam ripper stay sheathed, may your serger thread perfectly on the first try.
A new #sewing make in the works: a petticoat. I will be using a lining ripped off from another garment, a bunch of torn embroidered tulles, and a damaged tutu to make it.
After several failed attempts using a complicated technique, I successfully sewed a simple pattern to make a SMD resistor phone case. I forget to fully include the seam allowance in the size computation, so it just barely fits my phone. It makes a nice set along with my PTH resistor glasses case! #sewing#sewingproject
Is there anyone following me who knows about #SewingMachine adjustments? I’ve cleaned, oiled & de-gunked a low-end machine (HobbyCraft 19s; made by Silver) but the top thread keeps getting knotted up round the bobbin mechanism. Any ideas? #Sewing#SewingMachineMaintenance
Making a super basic and simple (and zero waste) petticoat for a house skirt. This half of an old duvet cover is a very thick, dense and very very soft cotton.
I folded the sheet, marked a 4cm dip along one side and cut there, to make the centre front 8cm shorter than the back. Machine stitched side seams, then felled down the seam allowance by hand. Currently in process of hemming.
#sewing Trying my best to get a neckline sewn on my t-shirt. Having a hell of a time. I’ve looked at videos etc. but it doesn’t seem to come together. I have too much material —I’ve measured , done the math but it seems the neckband is still too short. I’m using a jersey knit but it also only stretches so far. What do I do???
