Last 2017 eclipse related post for now! This is a collage of the Total Solar Eclipse. If you've watched any of my YouTube videos, this is printed on the wall behind me (along with a lunar eclipse collage). I'm having this one printed on a clock!

America just had their total solar eclipse. Turns out here in Australia we are getting one in 2028, and it’s going right over Sydney where I live! Holy freakin’ hell!
Might be worth travelling to the Blue Mountains, somewhere like Lithgow, or even inland to Dubbo. Both have perfect dark skies for astrophotography.

A total solar eclipse will move across the U.S. on Monday, April 8. People who are blind or visually impaired will be able to experience it as they grow colder and hear birdsong change along with the dimming light, but much of the effect is visual. Planetary scientists Cassandra Runyon and David Hurd have written a guide called “Getting a Feel for Eclipses,” which has tactile graphics that illustrate the paths of the 2017, 2023 and 2024 eclipses. They write for @TheConversationUS about why they made it, and how it works.

@plateau_astro gives some tips on where to best view the eclipse next week. I’m fortunate to be within the zone of total eclipse, so I’m heading to my local park.

It's been a few days and I find my brain is still trying to find the right words that capture the experience of the .

There aren't many things in our world anymore that are quite so poorly captured by our "content creation" methods. Video, pics, posts – all are inadequate to the task.

Words & testimonials, when you find eloquent ones, seem more successful than the imagery.

The eclipse met all my expectations.
.
During totality it was pitch black. The temperatures dropped by 20°. It was unbelievable.

4 photos I shot during the totality of the eclipse. Red spots around the edges are solar prominences. These images were shot within 1 minute. The bright spot near the bottom grows into a full arch with a visible hollow by the last picture.

: On April 8, 2024, a NASA photographer captured the total solar eclipse in Dallas. A small part of North America, from Mexico’s Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland, Canada, saw the total solar eclipse, while all of North America and parts of Central America and Europe saw a partial solar eclipse. The next total solar eclipse that will travel across the lower 48 states from coast to coast is in 2045. Credit: NASA/Keegan Barber

Eclipse Radio: Several NASA-Funded Science Projects

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, David Iurescia, who shares the following article via NASA: NASA-Funded Science Projects Tuning In to ‘Eclipse Radio’ (NASA) On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross parts of the United States. For millions of people along the path of totality, where the Moon will completely cover the Sun, it may feel like an eerie daytime darkness has descended as temperatures drop and…

April 8, 2024 path, courtesy timeanddate.com ➡️ https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/map/2024-april-8 . No timeline there (a pity), but it seems to end when the Sun falls below the horizon over the Atlantic, with maybe the slightest smear of partiality available in parts of the UK & Ireland all the way until around 2000z. Final moment of totality ends at 1855z though.

Now, idk how it would relate to any unusual MW/SW/HAM reception possibilities in Europe... would there be any?
