Last night while walking my dog someone asked me if they could ‘cook my dog’ (presumably because I’m Chinese and I cook dogs). And I run into these signs every half a mile or so from Nob Hill to North Beach. Welcome to super anti racist, progressive San Francisco!

(Two months ago a lady pointed a blow torch at me and said she’d like to burn me for being Chinese. I’ve just spent thousands of dollars in therapy.)

Also I can tell you from experience that talking to an analyst can be really valuable.
I honestly can’t imagine what it’s like to have people bully you just because of how you look, but you don’t owe those jerks any of your attention.

    So... in the US we now have an "anti-library" party. It's remarkable how many ways republicans keep coming for libraries and librarians. From the stuff in Houston where they are turning libraries into "discipline centers" and firing librarians. To the books bans and empty shelves in Florida.

    Libraries are powerful and important, and if this doesn't make that clear? I don't know what will.

    Today’s sightings brought to you by Heliconian Airways. When we go, we go orange! Just a local stroll today through the neighborhood. Saw a lot of very jittery Blues. No one wanted to stick for a pic. But I lucked out late on the walk with this Gulf Fritillary- probably newly emerged with full color and not much fear. Also a decent Cabbage White and a tiny Umber Skipper. There were West Coast Ladies, but. they were too paranoid to hang.

    I was rewarded for my rather taxing hike towards the end with this American Lady that came up for an excellent photo session. This is the first time i’ve gotten a good look at the hind-wing “eyes”.

    Did this obvious racism hurt them? No, they now have more followers than ever. Being over there is just being bait for these extremists to build their network.
