So, I went to CVS to pick up the prescription they've sent me 4 texts about. It wasn't there. They said it was at a different pharmacy that I've never, ever used. They had to transfer the prescription back and then told me the drugs were out of stock and to come back on Monday.

Scotter,

Which is worse? Not having it or all the texts? Sometimes the notifications are too much!

Scotter,

Recently flew on United (only choice at small airport) and almost threw my phone away due to the constant notifications... even after attempting to turn them off. Promptly uninstalled their app at landing

[I'm gloomy about this. The supreme court is overloaded with hard-right Catholics and that bunch has shown itself to be radically anti-abortion]

Supreme Court to decide whether abortion pill will remain widely available

The high court said it will hear a case brought by a conservative group opposed to the drug.

Really big news for those who experience extreme nausea when pregnant. It can be life threatening to the fetus and severely impact the mother

Frustrating start to the day. The Lancet puts out a study saying one in three women are likely to experience long-term health problems caused by childbirth. MedicalXpress publishes a press release (https://medicalxpress.com/news/2023-12-women-health-problems-birth.html).

None of the wires cover it โ€” not Reuters, not AFP, not AP, not Bloomberg.

One in three women is (roughly) one on six members of the human race. No news agency thinks long-term health issues affecting one in six people matter.

Scotter,

Maybe 1/5 of world's population? More women than men so not quite 1/6

If this is an accurate poll, then it's proof that misinformation is spreading, and disinformation is winning. Idiocracy is here, and it's time to see if Ireland will take me in.

Pretty shocked to see that this poll shows LGBT people supporting Trump.

12/4/23 Open 6-9p. No open containers, please.

Today's feature is Doc Savage paperbacks of the 1960s and '70s from Bantam Books. They're reprints from Doc Savage magazine, a pulp from the '30s and '40s published by Street and Smith. Nearly 90 percent of the initial Doc Savage stories were written by author Lester Dent. Kenneth Robeson was a house-name owned by Street and Smith.
Adventure awaits!

Sunday I pulled two books from my shelves that I've been meaning to read forever and set them bedside so they'd be "up next." Now somehow there are six books on the pile. They either breed when I'm not looking, or I am confused by the meaning of "up next" and how many eyes I have. @bookstodon

I didn't really know any Talking Heads songs beyond some of the hits for a very long time, but maybe 10 years ago or so I started getting into them. I even had a phase that lasted about 3 weeks where I listened to the first three albums multiple times a day every day.

I now use this song from about 1.08 in as my phone ringtone (not that my phone rings if I can help it.)

We've gotten down to 35ยฐF, almost freezing, once but only in the night. Warms back up quickly to 67ยฐF by the afternoon. It's basically California weather until the next front blows in.
