@GottaLaff Ohhh you get real spring there.

My crocuses are up and that's it. The forsythia is still weeks away from blooming.

March 31 was already significant to me because that's the day in 1998 when I helped Navigator become .

Now this day has a whole new meaning for me as a woman. And it's my first that I celebrate publicly since coming out to everyone on June 21 of last year.

To all my siblings, I see you. Even if complete visibility isn't possible for you right now. You still matter. You're still loved. And you're still trans. Never doubt that. 🏳️‍⚧️🫂💖

Today in “men explain technical concepts to women who have more specific and deeper knowledge”:

  • I was whinging about a page that required Chrome (which is, by definition, NotAFreakingWebPage because SomeRandomBullshit piped to port 443 does not a web page make).

  • I was told that Chrome and Safari shared an underlying library.

Which: I was on the Safari team for 5-1/2 years, including the time when Google forked from WebKit, which was in 2013.

So.

StaceyCornelius,
@StaceyCornelius@mstdn.ca avatar

@lisamelton And if that happens, we're standing by with popcorn for a play-by-play.

But I really hope it doesn't happen.

Anybody else remember the “Stationery Pad” feature in the Classic Mac OS Finder? It was a checkbox in a file’s Get Info window that allowed you to turn any file into a template — when opened, it would require a Save As… and prevented you from overwriting a file you’d use as a starting point.

Good times. I wonder why that got axed? Seems simple enough (I know: famous last words of a non-programmer).

StaceyCornelius,
@StaceyCornelius@mstdn.ca avatar

@tantramar Huh. I have no recollection of that.

When someone makes an image quote about not allowing anyone to judge you... and they use Papyrus as a font.

Pro move.

StaceyCornelius,
@StaceyCornelius@mstdn.ca avatar

@tantramar To be fair, the image looked like it was not recently made. But even sharing it was (likely unintentionally) clever.

Anyone else thinking all the journalists and tech people out there, plus the people/potential customers/subscribers fed up with billionaires and near-monopolies, might present an opportunity?

If you have to do something you really don't want to do, how do you get yourself to do it?

@RickiTarr Usually delay as long as possible, then panic.

Sometimes the grown-up part of my brain manages to talk me down, um, yeah.

Final snow tally at my place.

Up next she clears a four-foot drift off the laundry room roof.

In related news, clearing one's driveway four times in three days has little to recommend it.

Yellow tape measure showing 20 inches / 52 cm of snow, with evergreen trees in the background.
Partially shovelled path leading towards a snow-covered arbor and small outbuilding, with snow-covered trees in the background.

@tantramar I heard Yarmouth got 1 cm. I didn't look for a radar image showing the storm's path. Too busy getting groceries.

My back is quite displeased with the entire affair.

Pro tip on "cold" outreach for folks looking for new clients:

At minimum, read their About & Services/Products website pages.

Find some common ground.

Mention that when you reach out.

Keep it simple. Keep it light.

Keep it relevant. ⬅️

Tell them what you do; that you're around if they need someone.

This can be a solid approach if you take the time to demonstrate you're paying attention.

Smart, reliable people can be hard to find. Be that person for your ideal clients.

You may disagree fervently with Pres. Biden's Israel policies, and that's fine. But if you come into my feed calling him "Genocide Joe" or any variation on that theme, you're blocked.

I've already had to block a few accounts for this.

Pres. Biden is not "for genocide." I will not argue with you on this topic, nor do I discuss the Israel/Hamas war here.

But I will not tolerate accusations of "genocide" by Pres. Biden. He's not "pro genocide."

If that's a prob, it's on you.

It’s been too long since I posted a picture of Hamilton and just got a request. Heeeeere’s ! Sleepy Hammy who loves everything.

& before my Debbie Downers do their usual pinning negative attributes to him, no: He’s not hungry, angry, sad, lonely, impatient, or deprived in any way, shape or form. He’s simply happy and cute.

@GottaLaff I've lived with dogs and know that "tragic" expression very well!

The Tragedy of the Dog was a running joke at my house. (My dogs were cared for like a beloved kiddo; I'm sure same as yours.)
