@ai6yr Kind of amazed that it landed back in Florida. I wonder how many of those rather substantial parts landed somewhere else in the world and harmlessly buried themselves in the ground on impact never to be discovered or if so, recognized for what they are? 🤔

For those of you who liked Doctor Johnny Fever on WKRP in Cincinnati, here is a 3 hour radio program hosted by the Doctor. Someone did a lot of work editing this together using segments from the series and the relavent songs. Really enjoying this, thank you @larand https://www.awphooey.com/wkrp

Just unbelievable: “Between mentally torturing a false confession out of Tom Perez, concealing from him that his father was alive and well, and confining him in the psych ward because they made him suicidal, in my 40 years of suing the police I have never seen that level of deliberate cruelty by the police,”

Shell oil closes its 7 hydrogen fueling stations in California due to supply and reliability concerns. This reduces the number of hydrogen station in the state to 48. It’s hard when the competition can be more cheaply and conveniently ‘refueled’ at home and even public facilities. https://insideevs.com/news/708156/shell-closes-california-hydrogen-stations/

“Regardless of whether Donald Trump wins or loses, there’s going to be violence,” said Michael Fanone, a retired police officer who was seriously injured by pro-Trump rioters at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021. “If Donald Trump loses, he’s not going to concede and he’s going to inspire people to commit acts of violence, just like he did in the weeks and months leading up to January 6 2021.

“If he wins, I also believe that there’s going to be violence committed by his supporters, targeting people who previously tried to hold him to account, whether it was members of the press, average citizens like myself, Department of Justice officials, state and federal prosecutors. I believe him when he says that he will have his vengeance.”

Sorry about the quality of the photo, but we’ve had a Coopers Hawk sitting outside of our front door for at least 30 minutes in the rain and if I opened the door, it would fly off. We see them come by our bird feeder on occasion, but only stay a few minutes unless they’ve caught a pigeon and are holding it on the ground waiting for it to weaken and die before carrying it off. It doesn’t seem to mind the rain, other than shaking it off its head every once in a while.

Off roaders cut thru a mesh fence on one of our local beaches that protect nesting sites of endangered snowy plovers and damaged the area. Some people just can’t seem to think beyond the end of their nose, but cutting fences is vandalism and attacking endangered species. https://www.venturaaudubon.org/post/off-road-vehicles-august-2023

Just got back from getting a flu shot and had the opportunity to ask why CVS cancelled my phizer Covid shot. It turns out that it’s a problem with the insurance companies and they hope to get it straightened out by Wednesday or next week at the latest. The problem also affects the Moderna Covid vaccine as well, but CVS was a able to get a some before the problem happened. @larand @ai6yr

"Hydrogen is being promoted as a 'clean' alternative to the fossil fuels used for domestic heating, transport, and heavy industry," explains the new Friend of the Earth International (FOEI) paper, Don't Fall for the Hydrogen Hype, put out ahead of the global clilmate talks. "But it's expensive to produce, inefficient, and far from a low-carbon solution. In fact, the majority of the global hydrogen supply is made from fossil fuels." https://www.commondreams.org/news/cop28-hydrogen

@mjausson I once had to investigate and report on a similar accident. The difference was that it was a flatbed truck with a missile launching system that was strapped to it that wouldn’t fit under a bridge. The launching system cost well over a million dollars. I had to figure out what went wrong since the route was carefully planned. It turned out that they hadn’t used the truck that was specified, they used a taller one. It was a very expensive mistake. The bridge that had been built by a public works program during the depression was significantly damaged but still usable as I recall, concrete is tough. Parts of the missile launching system were tore off and fell on the road.

“J.D. Power’s 2024 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Home Charging Study found EV owners more satisfied with home chargers this year than last…..The improvement may come down to owners getting used to living with an EV. J.D. Never seen so much moss around the house in the 32 1/2 years we’ve lived here and another storm due tonight

SteveInVentura,
@SteveInVentura@sfba.social avatar

The moss is underwater now and there is a lot of water in our patio area and flowerbeds. The water running in the street gutter is halfway to the top, we’ve seen it go over the top once or twice in prior years. No flooding in garage…yet.
