@BlackAzizAnansi - *once, because I'm deliberate about masking, social distancing, staying home etc.

My partner has had it 3 times now, he's being careful but not AS careful as I am.

His wife has had it 5 times. She's trying to be careful, but she's a teacher in the UK and they were pushed back into face-to-face teaching very early.

*I think I might have actually gotten a really early variant in September 2019 when I flew to the UK and back via China. I got super sick, but this was before we even knew what was happening, let alone had testing for it.

I'm in my local community Facebook group, and people need to look after their fucking dogs properly istg

I have a random dog in my backyard right now because it was wandering the street, my dog is going crazy because it wants to be out with the "new" dog, and has scratched the paint off a door and put a hole in the curtains, and the random dog has scratched holes in the flyscreen because it wants to be inside and feel safe.

So I've taken a picture of the dog and put it in the Facebook group, and it's just post after post of found dogs - a lot of them repeat escapees, and a lot of jokes about "haha.. Charlie's out again 😆😆"

Dogs getting loose isn't a joke, Jessica. It's traumatic for them and they can get hurt or injured.

Every now and then I remember something I enjoyed doing as a kid, and I'm shocked nobody realised I was autistic.

Like i remember my mother trying to coax me not to draw floor plans of places we were because it was so weird it embarrassed her.. but nobody thought to ask why a 6 year old was not only obsessed with drawing floor plans, but also had the spatial reasoning to do so?

I'm having quite a shit day, so I bought a doughnut when I was out earlier.

I came home, sat down on the sofa, and took a bite of the doughnut.. just as the phone rang.

I answered, still with a mouthful of doughnut - it was my endocrinologist.

Does she have my house bugged? Is she tracking my doughnut expenses? 👀

I had Socks at the vet again today, just for his progress check.

She's happy to continue how we've been going, with syringe feeds every couple of hours. He weighed in at 780g (her scale always weighs him a bit lighter than mine), and she gave him a good check over. His stomach is still soft and fine, his mouth and teeth look ok, his heart sounds great. His breathing was a little quick, but we think it was more to do with the stress of a waiting room full of dogs than anything else because I haven't noticed him breathing quickly otherwise.

So, the plan is to continue with how we're going now and check in again in early January.

In other cavie news.. Pikelet is off to the vet in the morning to be desexed. I've just packed her a little lunchbox with snacks, and I feel like I'm sending her off to her first day of kindy 😆

It's important to have female guinea pigs desexed before they turn about 2 years old, because they start developing ovarian cysts and cancers due to their hormone levels if they don't have litters.

@Jakra - not really.

My first two guinea pigs were named Bertrand Russell (Teapot for short bc Russell's Teapot) and Jonathan Locke (Socks for short bc Locke's Socks) - Socks is still with us, but Teapot died about 2 years ago.

When Teapot died I had to get another one because they're herd animals and get stressed if they're not with other pigs - so I got this little girl.. I couldn't think of another philosopher with a cute named theory, and Pikelet just seems to fit her.

This little guy has finally broken 800g, weighing in at 817g this evening.

I'm not quite counting it as a win yet, because we still have a couple of hundred grams left to go, and because this was his evening weight after his feeds today.. his morning weight was 760g this morning.

Also, he has a touch of bumble foot on both front paws, which I'm treating with saline soaks.

He has another vet appointment next week.. I'm still hoping I may be able to cancel it.

Disabled people are treated like our bodies, our stories, are public property - especially so for those of us who are Aboriginal, who are Black, or People of Colour, who are trans or queer, or read as women.

Consider that if someone with a disability is posting their mutual aid links, either give/share/support or just move on.

It seems weird to think of a theme park ride having a smell association, but there is just such a unique odor to Pirates of the Caribbean. Like its not just a pool water smell, it’s distinct and specific. I dunno what they put in the water to produce that smell.

One week ago I was in the hospital for an emergency surgery. And while I am not at the point where I can write about all the aspects in which hospitals are traumatizing for me as an person, I want to write about another aspect of this experience. I really had the worst pain I ever experienced in my whole life. They had to give me morphine, because I was screaming and crying in pain. (1/2)

@KaCi - one of the reasons we (autistic people) have trouble in therapy is because a lot of the time we intellectualise instead of feeling our emotions.

Therapists who don't understand how autism works often mistake this for insight and assume we're doing better than we actually are.

I think maybe what you experienced was being able to feel without intellectualising in those moments. It can be really powerful.
