Many console gamers think PC gaming is more complicated than it actually is. Yet here’s all the steps it takes to have a console experience on a PC:

  1. Turn on PC
  2. Open Steam (if it’s not open already)
  3. Press “Big Picture” mode

Voila! In three steps, your PC pretty much becomes a console. It’s easy to view on a TV and controllable with your gamepad of choice.

@atomicpoet I took my old desktop with debian stable and:

  • plugged it into the TV
  • created an user with auto login
  • added steam to auto start
  • put steam into big picture by default

I can just turn it on, wait a while, connect the ps4 controller and play

@chriswho @QueenieBeanie @Gargron It’s not a strawman. People don’t want him to get paid. They don’t donate enough and anytime earning money comes up people scream “capitalism” The world doesn’t run on free despite what this place likes to act like. A lot of people that came to fedi are also serial harassers that got kicked off of Big Social

Hey everyone!

I mostly got this account so I could interact with people on threads, as free radical blocks them. I was also looking for something with a higher character limit that could do things like quote posts and markdown post formatting. akkomane.social does all of these things!

I do plan to keep the free radical account, but I'm not sure yet what posts will go where. For a start, I think I will just start posting from here more often and see how the engagement is different. I'm looking forward to finding out!

That said, I still consider this account "experimental" because I have more follows on the old account, there are not a lot of threads users right now, and you can't interact with threads users from other vediverse apps right now anyway. So unless/until something changes I still consider the free radical account to be my main one.

Hey, look at that, we're almost at 1000 characters! Now I can just ramble as long as I want about whatever I want. This is great! My favorite color is blue,. I like pie. I'm having a chili cheese dog for dinner!

The launch of this would mean that Fediverse Threads users could follow Bluesky profiles and vice versa. At that point, it wouldn't matter which open protocol your platform prefers using because they'll all be part of the social web 🌐
