Trying to set up Kagi.com as default search engine in Vivaldi. Pasted in the session link from Kagi in the search settings of Vivaldi but whenever I type in Vivaldi’s search field or search (Ctrl + T and term) I’m just redirected to Kagi.com, no search results show up? #kagi#search#vivaldi
Back when I had a Commodore 64, The Castles of Dr. Creep kept me entertained for hours.
When I no longer had a Commodore 64, I hoped to find a port on another platform. However, this wound of being one of those games that stayed exclusive to the C64.
Then eight years ago, I saw it arrive on Steam so I had to pick it up.
And, well, I forgot how rough the joystick controls were. No way to sugar coat this, this isn’t as good as I remember it. 😖
@atomicpoet I’ve had similar experiences with the games I used to play on my Amiga. Some are still awesome but others are not holding up or as good as remembered
Writing this on my new refurbished Thinkpad T470! I got it very cheap. Just installed Linux and things are looking good! What I love the most so far is the battery time. Compared to my main computer/gaming laptop this thing lasts forever! #linux
This is the first time I’ve ever boosted this site. But there are some important points being made herein. Also some hysteria, but that can and should go with the topic territory.
@shoq Thanks for sharing. In a way I'm quite baffled by the lack of backlash on the ideology and rhetoric of people like Page and Sutton. Is it the money? I have a hard time not calling it extremism. Instead of worrying about if and when the technology reaches AGI and the singularity, we should try to stop the rich crazies financing and supporting this nonsense and hold them accountable for what very much looks like hate speech against humanity
@vwbusguy True, I think that was one of the reasons why Carl Schmitt didn't like democracy: it wasn't able to uphold or defend itself from internal subversion. Which is kind of ironical, seeing that Carl Schmitt was a prominent nazi jurist/philosopher and the Nazis subverted democracy from within
Loved crossing the streams and getting to talk about both #observability and #pkm in one fell swoop. Lots of good conversation about the impostor syndrome too— a good case for learning in public. Thanks to @arjanbroere for the photo! #pkmsummit24
I've started to appreciate the "Translate" button on Mastodon. When you follow hashtags on SoMe or take part in online communities concerning specific interests, you have a ton of users who would rather write for instance Mandarin or Polish. I can't read these languages but the users post about stuff I'm interested in. With the translate button I can reply in English to posts written in Mandarin and get a reply back.Language barriers are overcome (sort of) and the community grows. #mastodon
Does anyone know of a modern #Android phone which allows call recording without root?
I'm currently on an aging 5T running #LineageOS and can record calls just fine - a button in the dialler lets me record straight from the line. I don't need to put it on speaker and record via the microphone.
(Looking for 1st hand experience, not search results. No need to reply to discuss the legality of call recording. I need root-less for online banking etc.)
Just a reminder that What you want this time? by Gangstarr has one of the best lines in hip-hop: “A-yo, do me a favor
Tell her I’m not here
Forget it, I think she heard my voice already
You can let her in, but I’m tryna cook spaghetti” #lyrics#hiphop#spaghetti
@mxtthxw There will never be a combo like Guru and Primo. And Guru had this thing, he could be super real and occasionally funny and corny in his lyrics at the same time, not a lot of rappers do that
“‘Rocks do not breathe, Wulf. Surely then, they cannot have soul?' Wulf watched me steadily, through narrowed eyes.
'Rocks breathe, he said evenly. 'But each breath lasts longer than the life and death for a man. Hills and mountains breathe, but each breath lasts a thousand human lifetimes.'”
— Brian Bates: “The Way of Wyrd” (1983)
The word “weird” (as also discussed by Timothy Morton in “Dark Ecology” descends from the Anglo-Saxon for ‘destiny’ or ‘power/magic’.
The thread is now so long it is increasingly breaking Mastodon, so I am making a new thread, starting here.
To recap, here's the entirety of the year-one thread in the most impractical possible format: A YouTube playlist containing 246 songs and running for just over 47 hours:
@mcc Yeah I think I've heard about it, but I've just messed around making regular patches like the mortal I am, no UI toolkit. Saw them live in Oslo in 2016, did they use this on that tour?
@mcc Nice, thanks, I'll check it out! I remember being tired out of my mind coming to that show, full day at work, then going home for a few hours with my then 3 year old son and THEN off to see Autechre in the dark with a beer in my hand. The beer was shaking, I felt like a UFO had landed inside my brain
