"Supreme Court rules for GOP in South Carolina redistricting case
Civil rights groups argued that state Republicans unlawfully redrew GOP Rep. Nancy Mace’s district when they removed thousands of Black voters.
The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that Republicans in South Carolina did not unlawfully consider race when they drew a congressional district in a way that removed thousands of Black voters, making it harder for civil rights plaintiffs to bring racial gerrymandering claims.
The court, divided 6-3 on ideological lines with conservatives in the majority, said civil rights group had not done enough to show that legislators were focused on race in drawing the Charleston-area district currently represented by Rep. Nancy Mace, a Republican."
@Waitnwallflower All decisions made by SCOTUS since the January 6th insurrection need to be nullified. The court is obviously biased and not impartial.
If we could ever appoint an impartial board of investigators, the financial activities and social contacts of all SCOTUS members need to be thoroughly examined since 2016.
Just consider it similar to an investigation for a security clearance, like nearly all government employees consent to. What do you have to hide?
@flexghost It just amazes me that they randomly assigned a judge appointed by Trump without asking her for recusal from the case and selecting another judge. Garland is a closet supporter of the Federalist society. Any other Atty Gen would not have stood for these antics of postponement. This is a massive crime against the US: violating classified information rules!
We can vote, but it’s beginning to be clear we’re only voting for the lesser of two evils. I’m losing faith, trust in the system!
Trump is telling us exactly what he plans to do if he gets another term. He is framing his return to power as an authoritarian effort, and he is overtly using Nazi language and symbolism to drive home the point.
This wasn't a mistake. It isn't a joke. American freedom and democracy are on the line in 2024. The main headline in Trump's ad asks: "What's Next for America?" Trump's answer: authoritarianism and fascism.
@georgelakoff In a way, it might be worse than the previous Nazi regime: Trump will have access to nuclear weapons and long range missiles that the previous one didn’t, as well as an internet-powered propaganda machine
Dr. Adam Hamawy, a U.S. doctor and former U.S. Army combat surgeon who is currently in Gaza, says he has "never in my career witnessed the level of atrocities and targeting of my medical colleagues as I have in Gaza."
A U.S. doctor in Gaza wants President Biden to know 'we are not safe'
@jdm2@palestine And Biden’s WH statement said the US sides with Israel? What about doctors, Joe? Aren’t they more important than votes from the people you’re trying to coddle?
@flexghost Or did he somehow not please Putin on supplying more cheap drones?
Just think of Prigozhin’s last plane ride.
Nothing is ever what it seems on the surface.
@flexghost So what kind of puppet government could Vlad put in their place? He surely is smart enough not to invade and cause another Afghanistan.
Or…is the Mossad still capable of helo maintenance?

@StillIRise1963 Agree but COVID changed a lot about sharing, especially in a country where many do know who their closest neighbor is, much less talk to them. We’ve become an isolated society, untrusting of mostly everyone. Yes there are exceptions in small towns but not for the general population in a world where so many of us relocate often for work.
@GottaLaff NFL. And this trial is for perhaps the worst crimes against the people and national security of the United States of America. There has to be a way to move this along again. No single judge should ever have this much power. What about the right to a speedy trial? Does it not also apply that right to the People?
Plz remember to use "NFL" (Not For Laffy) & remember: typos are theirs, not mine. No time to correct.
Inner City Press (aka Press):
They're back.
Trump's lawyer Blanche: Half an hour ago, we learned who the next witness is - and we have some objections. Invoices from Michael Cohen are not business records of the Trump Organization. If she stamped them, sure
@GottaLaff NFL
I would prefer that he had to take food and comfort packages to homeless people on the streets or in shelters and have 10 minute conversations with each, documenting it in a report back to the judge.
When they tell you
(and they will tell you)
that only cowards
wear masks in public
reply by telling them
that in these dark times
the bravest thing
any of us can do
is take care of each other.
@plaguepoems That mentality is the same excuse for not wearing seatbelts, not using safety glasses, not wearing ear protection. It’s not being a coward: it’s making sure you’re still alive and able to enjoy your family and friends using all of your senses.
