Just sent email to local gallery, that hosts workshops/events/lessons - about how many of us locals would really like to be able to attend their events & participate in their workshops/painting classes but are unable to because the indoor environment isn't . I asked if they're planning any safer outdoors events/classes so they're more . I hope they will.

I send emails like that to every organization that hosts events I'm interested in but aren't . In the hopes that more organizations will start making some changes so those of us who are aren't always excluded from strategies.

Government doesn't give a damn about or people but some citizens do. run our local organizations, not pushing government politicians.

As the CDC prepares to ease COVID-19 isolation guidelines, reflecting an approach similar to managing the flu and RSV, concerns grow within the community. Experts and vulnerable groups highlight the risk of diminishing the seriousness of COVID-19, fearing it may undermine efforts to protect those at highest risk and ignore the potential for long-term health effects. This pivot prompts a crucial dialogue on balancing practicality with precaution in our ongoing battle against the pandemic.

I get that we need to find ways to move on, but I really don’t understand the laissez faire attitude to . Surely air purifiers and occasional masking still have a place for infection control? Especially in health settings. Us poor immuno compromised have a hard enough time navigating the world as it is.

Right. I've successfully resisted my employer's mandate by presenting clear evidence that I'm and can't make antibodies. I haven't yet told my employer that my dysregulated immune system is related to my being , although in fact it's a common comorbidity. Not every autist has a shonky immune system, but many of us do.

If you strongly suspect that your immune system is bad (for example, if you have asthma, hay fever and/or eczema, and if it takes you many weeks to throw off a common cold) then it might be worth trying to get tested. If, like me, you've had several Covid and still have no Covid antibodies then that's clear evidence that your employer ought to respect.

COVID is a zoonotic disease caused by eating animals. if we want to support and folks, going is one of the single best things we can do to avoid a future .

or we could stuff our faces with dead, tortured birds while the avian flu continues to jump from factory farms to wild bird populations and humans. and veganism is ? sure.

the choice is ours.

Still catching up. 😅 This Week in Virology for November 22, 2023: https://www.microbe.tv/twiv/twiv-1064/

The CDC released 70K+ more doses of the vaccines for babies. Get those shots! 💉

The anti-vaccine movement is starting to show in measles cases. Increase of 18% in cases and 43% increase in deaths worldwide from 2021 to 2022. Most of the deaths are in young kids. 😔

A VA study found that people taking immunosuppressive drugs (so, ) for organ transplants, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or psoriasis are still somewhat likely develop severe COVID-19 even if they’ve been vaccinated. 22.7% of organ transplant recipients are likely to get severe , 12.8% of rheumatoid arthritis patients, 6.9% of IBD patients, and 7.3% of psoriasis patients. And Paxlovid helped a lot.

The middling results of using COVID convalescent plasma (given to ppl who can’t take anything else) may be down to timing - if you give it late, it doesn’t have much of an effect. Also, the vast majority given plasma were also on steroid drugs at the time, which may have affected the plasma’s impact. (You take steroids to reduce inflammation from hyperactive immune response.) It emphasizes the importance of giving COVID convalescent plasma in first week.

Anyone trying to tell you is over is trying to sell you a bridge made of shit and salt. Now, completely separate from that, entirely different, the COVID represented the first time many people were able to safely do some things in public: their own grocery shopping, visit the doctor’s office, walk around the park. A mild inconvenience for some of us allowed the rest of us to exist in public at all.

However there's no Public Health Policy. I know that degrowth UK isn't organising, but I don't feel that there's full solidarity when a sizable number of us who are , or have family who they need to be care for. Folks like us are who are interested in degrowth don't know if it's safe to attend.
