@StillIRise1963 Agree but COVID changed a lot about sharing, especially in a country where many do know who their closest neighbor is, much less talk to them. We’ve become an isolated society, untrusting of mostly everyone. Yes there are exceptions in small towns but not for the general population in a world where so many of us relocate often for work.

We read Trump's
Time interview so you don't have to. Throughout, the leader of the GOP talks openly about his dangerous ambitions for a second term -- including allowing states to arrest women who have abortions, using the power of the presidency to influence criminal investigations, and deploying the military to round up millions of immigrants. 🧵 https://time.com/6972022/donald-trump-transcript-2024-election/

@indivisibleteam It is a waste of time to interview someone who not only doesn’t understand the issues, he also does not understand the implications of his answers to the questions on the issues.It appears that he fabricates half-responses because he has no idea: “well it depends, we’ll see,” etc. The frightening answers are the ones that show a strong tendency to make all decisions without Congress or laws. The President does not have absolute power like this. This is why he will not debate.

Interior decorating is easier than landscape design because the furniture and pictures don't keep growing. Everything stays the same color and the same size.

Can we all just marvel for a second at the fact that NASA has found the error that caused Voyager 1 to send bad data, and is working on a solution?

The probe is 163.163 Astronomical Units from the Sun. That's 24408837426 km, and counting (rather quickly at that).

NASA can work around hardware issues in a 46 year old device in outer space. What does that say about the commercial hardware and software industry?

bouriquet,
@bouriquet@mastodon.social avatar

@tinyrabbit They don’t build stuff like that anymore.

The Computer Command System (CCS), the central controller of the Voyager spacecraft, has two 18-bit word, interrupt-type processors with 4096 words each of non-volatile plated-wire memory and almost 70k of RAM.

@shalien @tinyrabbit Actually,a steam engine is a very adaptable piece of engineering. All you need is a heat source to boil water and make steam. Doesn’t matter if you use coal, oil, wood, sawdust, sugar cane or something else that burns. Sure different fuels produce more heat but in a crisis, it’s very adaptable.
