With all these stupid Google AI screenshots... The problem isn't so much that LLMs aren't really AI, or that they're not accurate. The problem is the tech companies trying to line their pockets by selling you the idea that LLMs are AI and can be accurate and trusted to answer questions.

It's a tool specifically designed to produce output that convinces you it is exactly what it was asked to be. It's fooling tech giants and they're using it to fool you.

Moderating can be hilarious. Banned someone on the @gamingonlinux website recently for being terrible.

They made a new account, and the new email used was literally their old username. They were being terrible again, so banned.

They just emailed to complain, claiming no ban evasion as it’s their first account.

The more I use a Steam Deck, the more I feel big boxes hooked permanently to a single TV are ridiculous.

Pick up and play anywhere, with the ability to hook up to a TV is just…so much better!

If Valve doesn’t do a Steam Deck 2 I will be quite sad.

The OLED design is basically perfect. Just bump up the APU in 2 years time 👌

Sigh. Google flagged https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/05/classic-rts-perimeter-returns-as-perimeter-legate-edition-with-linux-support/page=1/ as containing "Malicious or unwanted software" with no way on the adsense control panel to speak to them, to get them to recheck it.

It's a news article about a game, that links to the GPL source code (GitHub) and a Steam page.

PSA - If your Steam Deck or Steam on Linux has started failing to download or launch Proton games, you may have caught a bad config from Valve's servers.

We believe the problem is fixed now, but you need to delete a cache file locally (~/.steam/steam/userdata/<steamid>/config/compat.vdf where <steamid> is your id).
