Repeat after me: a university is not a corporation, and should not be run like one. The former exists for the pursuit of knowledge, while the latter for the pursuit of profits. These are mutually incompatible.

@JoshuaHolland bullshit. Border Patrol and the DOJ are heavily armed and are able to do basically whatever they want. Texas has no legal authority to stop them. And so it is just a choice by the Biden administration to allow Texas to boss them around, in order to give political cover for Biden's genocidal actions at the border.

Remember to write during these times. Write and publish what is happening, not just in the part of the world where horrible things are happening, but also where you are. Write about the lies the television is stating. Write about the lies the President is speaking.

Record reality-- if you haven't noticed, past generations didn't do a good job of that. Because they didn't have the internet, history was written by rich and motivated liars. We can do better.

@donmoyn I think this is a great essay as you why it's important who is president, but it doesn't quite address the pros or cons of republicanism and popular rule in government. There are plenty of Nazis at Border Patrol that have permanent civil service status. Should we not be able to vote for someone who would fire them?

Everyone on this planet knows full well that, absent any emotional/familial ties, if they were given the choice to instantly transport their child to Israel, or to Gaza, they would choose Israel. Because 1 is safer: a nation with hospitals, food, water, an advanced military, a weapons manufacturing industry, elections, US-backed, & the 2nd is an occupied prison state that is not allowed to have any of those things by the 1st.

Barbara Lee is the clear choice.

Katie Porter and Adam Schiff should be chased out of public office. They have no business being any part of our government. Their white supremacist views hide behind fake progressive masks. They are deplorable.

I am not more moral than the people campaigning in support of in . As much as I would like to stop the genocide, as much as I do to stop it, to vote against it, to protest it, to work for justice-- the genocide is still happening and is still my fault. It is the fault of everyone who has failed to stop it. We all are bastards. When future historians looks back at this time period, I hope they judge us all. I hope by then they find a way to improve things.

One thing is clear: the United States will never be able to criticize another nation for bombing refugee camps, hospitals, and schools again.

The UN reports at least 4 strikes on their schools and aid centers in the last 24 hours alone.

When you cede the moral high ground for political reasons, it is nearly impossible to get back. Who is to say when it is, or is not, appropriate to kill hundreds of innocent children in the course of war now?
