South of that area operated the German East Africa Company which existed from 28th March 1884 until becoming defunct in 1920 following the dissolution of German colonies after the first World War.

Looking into this, so far, I've found that searches will direct you to the "Secretary for LevellingUp, Housing and Communities" but you then have to search "counter extremism" which will take you to "The Prevent Strategy" which features a document published in 2011 (available in pdf format) which has a foreword by the then "Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities" Theresa May MP.
A call from my sister just after midnight that she’d taken mum to the hospital.
Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go “bing”.
It’s about 4:30am and mum’s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.
Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.
Wayback in time (January this year), BBC's "Book at Bedtime" did a merely okay adaptation of a retelling over 10 fifteen minute episodes of Madeline Miller's "Song of Achilles", the story told from Patroclus' perspective.
I've not read her book, I have read Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey (in english); there was no mention of what a heel he was.
I also have to call two banks to get them to reset some rubbish about app access ... I've been putting this off and both places I have had issues with call centre transphobia ... I shall report back later today ... One of the companies after an incident, wanted me to tell them how to fix it ... Also, the first email I received back didn't have any LGBTQI stuff, or the ladies pronouns ... But the second one did ... Strange ... Also they love rainbow washing ... Giggles

I have no great love of the BBC but it is not a commercial organisation.
In theory and stated principle it is not.
It does have commercial wings and makes corporate deals and alliances.
The personnel are free to have their own commercial contracts outside the organisation but (theoretically) not allowed to advertise those relationships on the BBC.
There are no adverts on BBC channels but you can see the BBC advertising their shows on/in other organisations's media - you may also see their presence on other platforms.
The worst aspect of the BBC (to someone of my political leanings) is their sycophancy to people like Musk and Zuckerberg which includes breathless coverage of their activities, companies and products. There is also greater coverage of the Conservative party and likeminded rightists while other (non-right-wing) parties are marginalised.
The BBC Charter is supppsed to ensure unbiased reporting and a noncommercial system of operation via the £170 licence fee (which is compulsory to watch live broadcast even if not from the BBC - infraction of this is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment (of mainly single mothers)).
What the BBC doesn't get from the fediverse that it gets from Twitter and Facebook etc is probably more to do with privileged access rather than social media exposure.

I don't recognise any of them except "Doris" and only cos you mentioned she's in the pic.
Not watching TV and because of how I interact with the internet (vids, posts, articles) means that I am now no good for hunting down human rights abusers. 🙁
@fkamiah17
I listened to Any Questions Friday before last, Widders was on it - couldn't tell if there was any change in her opinions from when she was officially a tory.
UNRWA head denies knowledge about Hamas data centre found in tunnels under UN agency’s Gaza headquarters
The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has denied any knowledge of a sophisticated Hamas data centre found by Israeli troops in tunnels underneath the agency’s Gaza headquarters.

This looks like an interesting report (despite being on Sky Australia); there's an autoloading video embedded in it which means I'll have to read the article while offline. Gone are the days when any kind of raid on organisations produced hundreds of boxes of files or filing cabinets. I suppose the harddrives/servers for this "datacentre" can fit into a few suitcases.
@RememberUsAlways@palestine@israel
I don't have much sympathy for just about any government. I don't consider myself an international court. I don't support the State of Israel nor Hamas.
The IDF having found evidence and there now being court proceedings internationally, the Israeli government can choose to provide that evidence to those international courts.
@RememberUsAlways@palestine@israel
Just to be clear.
Are you attempting to argue with me and make-up for what must be a poor memory on my part by repeating that Hamas attacked Israel on 7th October 2023?
