Was rewatching Iron Man yesterday (doing a MCU rewatch) and thinking why couldn't we have had in the Disney Star Wars era a major cinematic event like what they did from Iron Man to Endgame / Infinity War.
Sadly, they couldn't even plan out and have foresight for the Sequel Trilogy and much less actually bring a Star Wars film to theaters since Episode IX without firing directors or them jumping ship๐ค ๐ง ๐.
@rm4
Yes agree with your observation about Star Wars ๐ and marvel did a much better job on that aspect
But vaguely remember there was a scene in endgame or Infinity war where something that happened in Iron Man 1 10 years earlier finally made sense. Trying to think what that was.

Foundation (Season 2, 2023): Cloudship of the Cloud Dominion, art by Wayne Haag (The Fifth Element, Alien covenant)
The spaceship designs in this sophomore season are as wonderful as in the first, if not more so. #scifi#foundation#spaceship#conceptart#appletv
@TheSpaceshipper love the contrast between the brown rusty top, and the clear jellyfish-like bottom!
It must be hard to come up with original designs for spaceships, but this is a superb example
People said we were being alarmist when we said extremist Christian nationalists would use the abortion laws to target women trying to escape Texas to receive an abortion.
Started watching this series called Foundation, after the Foundation series from Asimov. In case anyone was wondering, it's not a film version of the story, rather a story set in the same universe with some vignettes from the books. I'm guessing Foundation is out of copyright, so they could use the name. It doesn't have the same sense of a grand sweep of history that you get from the books and is really more of a space action series with some bits of Foundation narrative spliced in.
@williamgunn@brianvastag
Disagree; loved the books, love the TV show, see parallels. Itโs the same story told from different perspectives. Like you could read different books about WWII with one focusing on live in London, another on resistance in France, and the third about the war on the east front. But same world definitely.
Hope theyโre going to do the Mule Arc too ๐ค๐ป
I donโt know how I feel about the Team Time Trial.
I thought I liked the idea.
The rain and dark were terrible.
I wonder if itโs fair to judge the whole team by the 4th rider across the line.
I guess weโll see how it impacts the GC over the next few days. #couchpeloton#vuelta

Sure but distance is not the same as nationality or culture. Just like an Irishman doesnโt like to be called English, and Basques donโt appreciate being identified as Spanish, calling a Belgian a Dutchman is a faux pas. Do it in Belgium, and youโd be expelled from the country with tar and feathers ๐
(Btw Aussies speak English, so that means they probably are English too, right? ๐)
We should not ignore the fact that the GOP is on track to nominate as its presidential candidate a man who is indicted on 78 criminal counts across multiple jurisdictions both state and federal. The GOP is broken beyond repair.
Started watching Foundation yesterday (finally). It's too early to say whether I like it, although the first two episodes were excellent.
I have to say, though, the 4K HDR version of it is superb. I watched it late, and turned off all lights, and got that cinema-like experience. The production quality and streaming quality of it is among the best I've seen, and it looks amazing on my TV.
@veronica I loved S1! They tot bad reviews from people who thought it didnโt do justice to the books. Iโve read books 1,2 &3 but loved the show, and understand itโs a loose adaptation. Cinematography is beautiful, story very interesting (albeit a bit difficult to follow at first), and some really good acting!
