I have it on good authority that #Nintendo "Switch 2" (named the "Swipe") is a card-based console with a card reader built into the unit. The cards, once swiped, unlock access to: full games, wallpapers, avatars, DLC, and even apps like Hulu, YouTube, and Netflix. The Swipe will be released by the end of Q2 2025, alongside over 200 cards purchased separately in booster packs.
One of the neat things about this is that, if you still have old e-Reader cards, you can swipe them for fun extras.
For once the Nintendo store's "register your interest" thing worked for me as I've been able to preorder a copy of the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Deluxe Set that comes with all those cool extras and a physical version of the game of course.
Had so many instances in the past where I had registered my interest but then never got the follow up email and missed out on their limited editions. It's nice to have it finally work. #Nintendo
@SimonSays oh wow. I had no idea.
Just heard that the GameCenter CX game won’t be getting a western release as it’s way too niche to sell here. So I orders a Japanese copy.
Just watch another publisher pick it up any day now. 👀
#Nintendo has pulled out of #Twitter (or as Space Karen calls it, #X). Reasons are likely due to price hikes on the content-posting API, and the fact that the site is a political hellhole, or as this article describes... "Nazi-curious"
"With Nintendo’s departure, all three major console makers have pulled the plug on native screen-sharing to X."
(I am going to start using the understating euphemism "Nazi-Curious" now)
Oh hey, #Nintendo people of the Mastodon. I'm gonna be picking up a #Switch soon, so what titles would you recommend checking out? Bonus points for stuff beyond the standard Zelda, Mario, etc. (Even though I'll probably play those as well).
Nintendo has confirmed the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is coming, but it’s not quite as soon as fans might have hoped.
The company’s president Shuntaro Furukawa said an announcement would arrive “within this fiscal year”, which gives it until March 2025 to release the details, reports the BBC.
Finally sorting through my millions of photos, here's a collection of ones I took at Nintendo Power's 20th anniversary party, in 2008, held in New York City, USA.
