Sigh. Restoration company saying this is going to be a big job. All the carpet will have to come out, and ceilings and walls in several of the rooms. And I caught it within an hour and a half of the break. #plumbing#disaster
@douglasvb@BakerRL75 no idea. Replacing the rest of the supply lines in this house is also going on the list. I started doing that but there are some ancient ones I dared not touch...
@ai6yr in the end it took about 2 1/2 months. We had to have our floors ripped up, drywall pulled out about halfway up the wall baseboards pulled up. And then everything repainted. It could’ve been done faster but some of it was just waiting for workers and materials. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Nice floor tiles are awesome. We got them to make the best use of our underfloor heating, but also great in keeping our house cooler during Dutch summer heatwaves. And zero worries about flooding, which also could end up being helpful when living at sea level.
We ended up getting long thick ceramic tiles with a natural reddish-brown wood grain pattern. Rated for commercial use, so the surface won't be degrading any time soon.
@ai6yr Both times in my son’s room…same pipe! First time I wanted complete pipe replace…of course no one agreed…then a year latter it happened again-less damage that time, but the whole pipe was replaced. Get a good restoration company…makes all the difference. The blowers still haunt me🙄.
@ai6yr A actual break, bummer. We once had a hose to the clothes washer burst while we were on vacation. We came home to a stream coming out of the garage door near to where the washer is. Here in Ventura pin hole leaks occur a lot due to the hard water. We had all of our pipes lined with epoxy which is controversial, but we have a lifetime guarantee against leaks and we don’t drink the tap water.
@ai6yr ugh! We had water leak through our gutters into a seam in our windows one epic storm and it was a nightmare. The noisy ginormous fans to dehumidify and dry everything out that wasn’t getting replaced were an awful 5-6 day nightmare
