Is there any good place to host this data so people can still search it without having to use reddit?

so people can still search it

See, this is basically why I probably won't delete my Reddit comments and posts.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'd like to think that I have contributed at least a little bit and been somewhat helpful during my 11 years on Reddit, and I want people to still be able to find whatever they might want to find there, while keeping the context of it alive too.

Let's see how that works out for them. ;)

@ernest I've been exploring alternatives to Reddit for a week now, and I'm loving Kbin. I miss more presence from the Spanish-speaking community, but there will be time for them to discover the advantages of the Fediverse. Congratulations on the initiative, and long live the project.

There are a few servers on mastodon (choose Spanish as language) and a post on lemmy (not sure if that's a good instance). Currently, I'm learning Spanish, so I follow from a few places and my feed is interesting…. Some English, some Spanish, a bit of German.

@Cocoa6790
Yes, I've been on Mastodon for quite some time now. There's a significant presence of Spanish speakers there (masto.es). But I was looking for content on Lemmy or Kbin. Nevertheless, I have no problem with English. Thank you.

If you'd like any help with elasticsearch (I know your plan is removing it), I can help. Definitely help keep it as small as possible.

I found out about kbin by seeing a comment on reddit about them banning r/kbinmigration.

Haha same here. This pushed me to finally pick a site and register.

Myzornis,

Same lmao! As a fuck you to reddit, I created an account here

I'm curious how much of this might just be a temporary thing with upcoming releases and how much of this is actually going to stick. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Netflix starts losing subscribers come July or August, but that might also be wishful thinking.

The same happens with reddit right now. Monetarisation, gold diggers everywhere.

Reverendender,

I completely agree. They have gone at this with zero long term consideration, it’s always about the short term profits.

CheshireSnake, (edited )

I was honestly betting this move would lessen the subscribers dramatically. It seems I'm way off, at least in the US. Well played, Netflix. Still won't subscribe lol.

I wonder if this will hold true for EU and Asia.

BruceTwarzen,

I read that in spain they lost 1million subscribers over night when they cracked down on passwords.

Went from Digg to Reddit, going to Kbin feels the same.

It's kind of amazing how this is playing out exactly like when Musk's Twitter started blocking Mastodon links. Bit of a fragile ego, it seems.

Someone smarter than me needs to write a book exploring the relationship between having power and having a fragile ego.

iirc even the graceless musk apologized for that tho? it is very anti competitive

God I really hope many people migrate here. Reddit is full of shit now

Hovenko,

Nah... let the shit stay on Reddit and keep this place clean.

I actually really liked a lot of the reddit communities. Did not find it unclean.

R51,

I don't. Maybe that's a bit mean, but many people also actually seem content and supportive of Reddit. If that's their boat, then why jump ship?

Reddit banning a sub about kbin makes it seem like a threatening competitor, so I made an account :)

Get Streisand'ed, spez.

Phord,

My first comment here, I did the same thing… kbin must be one of the strongest if it was pounced on that quickly.
