@SallyStrange @kylewritescode a couple observations:

  1. isn’t it up to the individual users to decide who can see their content and who can follow them and who they follow?
  2. much of mastodon is open to the public ALREADY so how does this increase the existing risk given my points from 1?

I’m happy to understand other people’s point of view, but it almost seems irrational to think this will be a net negative to the ecosystem. I think there are enough protections in place.
