Will Lemmy ever add federated delete like mastodon

I understand in any Foss project federated delete can be turned off by forking the project and removing it but I feel like for the vast majority of instances they won’t do that. I noticed Lemmy does not support federated delete leaving me unable to delete post from other instances. Is this planned?

bummer. i kinda thought that was a default thing. do you know if kbin honors federated delete?

Hopefully, but from what I understand, the federated nature of Lemmy means some instances might not respect your delete flag, and content might stay up anyway.

skymtf,

Yeah but its better than nothing

Not answering your Q but I see it as impossible to for sure know that you’ve deleted anything from the internet, implying that relying on such a function is fruitless

skymtf,

Yeah, but I mean it’s better than nothing. This is like saying federation is fruitless cause some instances might block you.

I would be in favor of this.
