Wait, wrong paper. This is because the government won't let them do something, which is clear government overreach and the world would be better if the government stayed out of things!

@Graham_LRR I could see it enabling competition. With Microsoft publicly trying to deal with discrimination and harassment, and ActiBliz just insisting their toxic culture doesn't exist, there are probably going to be a bunch of people who get fired or resign as a result of this, and go open new studios.

@Graham_LRR The most fascinating aspect of this particular stage of late stage capitalism is that the CEOs of these large corporations no longer even PRETEND to be the least bit coherent or likable.

@Graham_LRR To be fair, Microsoft only owns small, unnoticable franchises like Halo, Minecraft, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Forza, Doom, Wolfenstein and Gears of War.
Also some that most definitely are just deadweight and could never become popular again if treated well, like Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Commander Keen, Battletoads, Zoo Tycoon, Project Gotham Racing and Perfect Dark.

@Graham_LRR Look, as a small indie company with only 7.5 billion USD in revenue last year and assets of 27.4 billion USD, don't you think they deserve to be acquired by a small software company that only had 200 billion USD of revenue last year and has assets of 365 billion?
