Reading an issue of Harley Quinn right now where she gets tired of being herself and tries to just abandon her responsibilities, go somewhere else, and be unhinged for a while...but can't escape her conscience and ends up fighting fascists and the bourgeoisie all over again....ugh, stop being so relatable Harley!
The desire to just give up on everything and stop managing my mental health to just let myself go be unhinged and in my owb little world is strong. But I feel too much and know that the conacience that anchors me would pull me right on back. There's too much that's fucked up and needs doing in the world we live in right now. I'm tired but won't retreat, at least never for too long.

Also, randomly, when someone tells her she needs to take her meds, Harley does confirm she already did. So that's kinda nice too, knowing my girl has to take her psych meds too. Admittedly...it was the taxidermied beaver she hallucinates can talk and gets in arguments with...as one does....so, also relatable that the meds help manage symptoms but don't make the mental health conditions go away.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm using the money to bankroll a sequel to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn that would also be written by Christina Hodson and directed by Cathy Yan where she finally gets to fall in love with Poison Ivy. Heck, maybe James Gunn can help, because his suicide squad did great by her.

I love that many of the writers and illustrators of Harley Quinn comics really get the character and lean hard into the ADHD chaos and "mentally ill but working on her shit and caring about people" ethos of the character
Like, in this run, Stephanie Phillips, Riley Rossmo, and Laura Braga do things like allow the panels of a scene to be played out chaotically and then arrows to try to clarify...like, this is literally something is used to do in my completely disorganized notes from classes back in the day and just is absolutely delightful to my ADHD brain.

So, why does Harley Quinn mean so much to me? Well, there are all the ways I identify heavily with the versions in the Margot Robbie movies and the animated Harley Quinn series - she is a blonde girl who is a ditsy, impulsive bisexual that used to work in mental health and was highly educated, but crashed out of that career due to the intersection of ADHD, PTSD, an unspecified dissociative disorder, and borderline personality disorder / codependency. That, um...is basically a description of me, so um... 😅
Also, this panel has a great little "Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn" easter egg in the upper right corner on the shelves, with her overalls, roller skates, taxidermy gopher, and the bean bag launcher gun all on display 😏
