Keep telling me to vote for Biden even though he's committing genocide. Keep telling me that when the vote is six months away and the genocide is happening now. Keep telling me that in order to stop the genocide, we need to keep Biden in power to stop the genocide he's currently committing.

Keep spending all your effort on telling me to vote for someone committing genocide instead of using your effort to tell people that we need to end the genocide.

Keep it up, because it tells me so much about your priorities.

If you're so concerned that people won't vote for Biden because he's committing a genocide, then spend your efforts to get him to stop committing genocide, not to convince people to vote for someone committing genocide.

The more I speak about #Biden's complicity in #genocide, the more desperate people are to tell me I must vote for him in six months.

This is what they focus on. Not the genocide happening right now but a vote that will happen in six fucking months.

They say the only way to stop the genocide is to make sure he stays in office. Again, they say the only way to stop genocide is by keeping the same person committing it in power.

Mind you, I haven't once indicated who I'm voting for, because it isn't the point. But also, I have ranked choice voting, so it's really not relevant. I don't have to vote for Biden to still vote against #Trump. I just have to rank the damned candidates, with Trump last. But again, this isn't even the point.

The point is that so many people who claim to care about genocide don't, and would rather focus on fighting me on my individual #vote 6 months away than a genocide happening right now.

Something incredibly freeing about calling yourself a radical. Big thing is it makes you relatively invulnerable to typical ad hominem attacks.

When you admit you're a radical and stand confidently, then even the most conservative can't use it as a tool to dismiss your rationality. They may dismiss radicals en masse, but that's not new. But they can't just dismiss you as an individual they are talking with directly.

Because that sort of attack isn't meant to discredit you so much as it is to control you. It's meant to paint you as irrational and to group your ideas in with villainy. This puts you on defense, forcing you to concede reactionary points you don't fully agree with, just so that you can appeal to what they point to as collective rationality, or "common sense."

But when they say, "now you sound like a radical," you are able to say, "Yes, that's because I'm a radical, and...? Okay, back to my point."

They lose all leverage. Because it won't reshape your stance.

I kind of laugh when I call myself radical, because for me, the things I say or share are not really all that radical. They just feel natural. If you're reading this on Mastodon, you're also probably like, Lucy's not really all that radical, because you're already exposed or radical yourself.

But for liberals/conservatives, it's amazing how some incredibly simple concepts of even just basic empathy can feel world-shifting and dangerous.

I've been told before that I'm not that radical, and I'm like a) you're a cop trying to get me to incriminate myself by proving you wrong, or b) you are right. None of what I say should really be considered that radical.

Everything I say is rooted in the idea of empathy and not wanting to be complicit in harm. That's it. That's what it boils down to. This is why I always say there are no ends, only means.

Been seeing people angry w/ previously silent celebrities who are now calling for #ceasefire. Saying it's "too late" & "don't bother" now. That if they didn't care before, they don't care now and it's just to save face, followers, dollars. That they're scared of the block list.

Idk how to say this because it seems so obvious, but that's an awful take. This is the whole point of being vocal, to gain solidarity, to educate, to change minds, to make it safer for others to join a cause or to even entertain the idea that they might have previously been wrong. You have got to make room for change, growth, progress.

But also, even if it is just to serve their own career and financial interests... again, isn't that the point of boycott? To make it painful enough that they change their actions for their own interests? Then why the fuck are you shaming them for changing their behavior?

Don't make it hard to join the cause.

Take the solidarity and keep moving forward.

And everyone is still sitting here like this entire system is still to be trusted. Like it doesn't need to be completely dismantled. Like they are going to vote and then be satisfied with the results, pat themselves on the back for getting Joe elected if they're successful, and act like there's nothing they can do, and they'll just let the genocide happen because it's better than worse genocide. Because hey, it's progress, and they did their part so that "at least it wasn't the other guy!"

Why? Because older people use it who only get their news from Fox or CNN. Because your centrist friends and conservative family are there. Because you are the last line of hope for them to learn anything about what's really happening, and about things that actually matter. Some of them know you and trust you enough to listen-- not all, but some. They aren't going to read theory or pay attention without a thread or connection to someone else that cares.

They need real connections like you so that these ideas are not abstract.

What if Sisyphus had to push the rock, but he was given tokens that he could use to spend on rent for a place to sleep at night and a microwave lunch for his 20 minute lunch break, and maybe a video game console for when he comes home at night? He could even borrow tokens to buy the stuff up front. But like, also if no matter how hard he pushed, he could never actually make enough tokens to pay the rent and the debt plus compound interest for the basic purchases he made. And then they said, well, you can stop pushing the rock, but first you need to pay off the debt and probably earn enough so that you don't have to end up pushing the rock anymore. But no matter how hard he pushed, he could never pay it off, so they took his apartment and his console and his lunch and then said he still had to push the rock without all those things until he was done paying his debt plus interest plus enough to be independently wealthy?

So, there he goes, just pushing the damned rock every. damned. day.

Attending the Trans Youth Care Symposium (https://transfamilysos.org/services/transyouth-care/) and really excited about where gender-affirming care for youth is going!

Two different practitioners have emphasized how gender dysphoria and parental resistance and lack of support is a form of chronic trauma. One even discussed how it produces PTSD!

Not to mention they are calling out the centering of cisnormativity and other gender studies concepts...like, dang, there are providers that are getting there! Also, a huge emphasis on support beyond the binary.

Selfie day. Just a regular day. I need a shower. I have dog hair on my shirt. I'm tired and directionless today. Been in a sour mood for a couple days, but also, it's sunny today and I've got a call scheduled with a friend. We got new goslings last night who are chirping in the next room.

It's just a day. But, it's a day where I get to be me, and I choose the tired, sour, and directionless days, the sunny days and the days with friends, the un-showered and messy days... I choose them all as me, every time, every day, every moment.
