I need more folks to know who are talking about or joining the Fediverse that the company has coordinated with the federal government in the US to remove people from disability benefits.

No, I'm not joking. Many folks on disability know better than to EVER post pictures on that platform as they've been used against them. Or to ever talk about having a slightly better day for their ailments than usual. Having them spy on the is NOT okay and will actively make this platform less safe for many disabled people. That should be seriously considered.

@literalgrill I'd vote that Fedi blocks any Faceborg instance in the first two seconds. But that to one side, how does them joining Fedi change the ability to spy on disabled or any other people? It's an open platform. They could be spying all the time. Or am I missing something?

@quixote To me essentially, yes a public platform is able to be scraped for data if you're posting on it. You're not wrong.

However, connecting all of our posts to give easy access to a company known for building massive surveillance systems and being literal experts on getting that data seems like a bad idea. At least right now, they might have to work a bit harder for it. It's better than just opening the door so they can walk in.

@literalgrill @quixote not sure how you qualify "easy access" but public posts appear in Google searches, at least from instances that haven’t blocked indexing.

@chikorita157 @Peace_out_art True, Facebook complies with being asked for literally any of this. It's nasty and will continue on any other platform they have access to.

@literalgrill @chikorita157 @Peace_out_art The only case I know of where :facebook: refused to provide access was when ordered by a court to do so in order to have the relatives and heirs access an account and investigate someones' suicide.

Otherwise is literally snitching on all it's users...

@literalgrill @Peace_out_art I don’t think anyone should be trusting Meta given the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
