@mhoye It is annoying that it got enough traction as a name (despite having fuck all to do with the web in reality) that we'll never be able to talk about a "real web 3.0".

I mean web 2.0 was a bit tenuous but at least referred to a real web thing.

@tomw @mhoye Right? Web3 pretends to be all about decentralization when it's really about deregulation. A real Web 3.0 would be about actual decentralization. It's RSS/Atom. (Also JSON Feed...exists?) It's ActivityPub. It's the Small Web and individual sites rather than putting your entire online presence on one of the 5 big sites full of screenshots of the other 4.

But it's probably too late to reclaim the name.
