@isotopp Near as I can tell, this may just be a 2023 rescheduling to avoid events falling on a weekend, for ANSI. Their literature makes reference to the 1970 event as its legacy.
@isotopp ANSI has World Standards Week, a series of events leading up to World Standards Day. It ends on World Standards Day or the business day preceding it.
Which I suppose tells you a lot about how people make poor assumptions about related standards without really understanding how they interact…
@isotopp@patterfloof I'm about 99% sure this would be the case if corporations like Apple (vs. everyone else) had a word in announcing standards days :D
@isotopp Meine größte Sorge im Zusammenhang mit der Besiedelung anderer Planeten ist, daß das wahrscheinlich unter US-Führung geschehen wird und die ihr abstruses Einheitensystem überall einführen werden.
"The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), Canada's national accreditation body, celebrates World Standards Day... In 2012 SCC celebrated World Standards Day on Friday, 12 October."
A search on https://www.scc.ca/ shows that in other years they celebrate it on a different day, e.g. in 2017 it was 11 October.
@isotopp it's time the rest of the world followed EU example of requiring all goods sold in their country to meet local standards or ISO which ever is the better quality. The US is big, but not that big, even Tech companies followed EU standards on USB chargers...
