Do you know your spouse/SO's cell phone number (without looking it up)?

Please boost for a wider demographic 😉

@dancinyogi some weird percentages going on...

dancinyogi,
@dancinyogi@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@CleoQc I think SDF is having issues today, although I have no idea if that would affect wonky math in polls!

RamenCatholic,

@CleoQc I'm seeing it too. Must be capitalist math.
@dancinyogi

larouxn,

@dancinyogi, an interesting point perhaps, in some countries people usually call friends and family via an app instead of directly via phone. Here in Japan I've only ever seen my wife call her parents via LINE, the de facto communications app.

In fact, come to think of it, I have friends' LINE accounts but I don't have their phone numbers. Peeps exchange said accounts instead.

Note, phone calls are still used but more for calling businesses and such.

@dancinyogi Of course I know whats-her-name's phone number!

@dancinyogi

I don't! I rely way too much on phone book entries.

@dancinyogi I didn't even save hers until we got married cause I had it memorized the day she gave it to me

dabertime,
@dabertime@mstdn.social avatar

@dancinyogi It's the only phone number besides my own that I know without looking it up.
🤔
Well, there's the number from a place I worked at 30 years ago. Brains are weird.

groxx,
@groxx@hachyderm.io avatar

@dancinyogi barely yes. Forgot it for a couple years.

pjohanneson,
@pjohanneson@mstdn.ca avatar

@dancinyogi I still remember her number from the apartment where she lived when we started dating. I've got a good memory for numbers; not so much for people's names.

will,

@dancinyogi I don't even know my own phone number without looking it up :<

CivilityFan,
@CivilityFan@sfba.social avatar

@dancinyogi as well as my own, which means I sometimes come up with a blank. These are numbers from 2010. The land line, which I got rid of in 2013, I remember from using for a loyalty card and even can remember the landline from the move before that.
Importantly, I can remember her social security number BD & our anniversary date 54 years ago. Also, because my online banking got compromised last week and I had to change checking account and update all my debit & deposit accounts, I now know my routing & checking #’s

FilthyOldPerv,

@dancinyogi
We got our first cell phones together, so the numbers are the same except for the last digit.

bhawthorne, (edited )

@dancinyogi We GenXers grew up having dozens of telephone numbers memorized.

fmhilton,
@fmhilton@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@dancinyogi a better question is, "Do you know YOUR cell phone number without looking it up?" I bet there's a lot of people who don't...I can guarantee it. (from personal experience.)

toran,
@toran@pkm.social avatar

@dancinyogi the only number I know, off by heart, is my childhood one... and that of my mother's best friend. 😆

TechnicalAdept,
@TechnicalAdept@awscommunity.social avatar

@dancinyogi I know the first two digits and the last six digits so I recognise it and push comes to shove I could expect to get through after 500 attempts. ;-)

thewhite969,
@thewhite969@chaos.social avatar

@dancinyogi I can at least recognize it when I see it, but I always look it up, when she asks me (because she doesn't know it either and wouldn't even recognize it, I think).

@dancinyogi I sudden decided that NOT knowing it was a risk factor, one day, and made up a song with which to remember it. Then sang it at my kids for twenty minutes solid, whilst driving to Widnes.

They hated me for it, but we all know Dad's number, now.

I don't think anyone knows mine, though.

jrsofty,
@jrsofty@toot.community avatar

@dancinyogi strangely I remember my childhood home phone number and my grandparents number, they've been dead for years. Since I usually send messages to my wife and seldom call her number I don't have it in memory.

wx1g,

@dancinyogi I gave the dude his phone. it used to be mine. I remember the number. He trashed the phone after we split. I wonder who has that number, now? Should I call it someday? LOL!

cwagdev,
@cwagdev@tabletop.vip avatar

@dancinyogi used it enough times for those grocery discounts

@dancinyogi Girl I remember the phone number my wife’s family had when she was 15 and told it to me as she hopped in her mom’s car.

She said “do you want me to write that down” and I said “I’ll remember it” and I still do 33 years later.

sous_mon_masque,

@dancinyogi

And she know the number of her ex. Last time she called him and he called me back.

(I'm mean, it was 3 years ago, and now it seems she know mine.)

AmbularD,
@AmbularD@fanglitch.space avatar

@dancinyogi I don't know it, but I do have it written down and near to hand at all times, not just saved in my phone.

cgervasi,
@cgervasi@fosstodon.org avatar

@dancinyogi It is the same number she used for her landline, years before she got a mobile phone, so I can't forget it.

motoridersd,
@motoridersd@pug.ninja avatar

@dancinyogi I asked my husband if he knew it, and he said "yes of course! I use it when shopping because you're more responsible and have a rewards account set up everywhere" 😂
