I don't get why you're confused with Canadian measurements. It's pretty straightforward..

Weather temperature is in Celsius.
Cooking temperature is in Fahrenheit.

Food weight is in kilograms.
I am in pounds.

Speed is in kilometres.
Distance is in time.

My wife and I don't really fight over anything, figuring that most of the irritating things we may do, don't matter in the big picture.

This possibly works more in my favor. 🤔

However, I can sense her eyerolls without actually seeing them.

All I had were the clothes on my back, a small bare apartment, and a job that barely covered rent.
I never told coworkers, yet I showed up at work one day to life changing gifts of kitchenware and food.

If disillusioned by the world's lack of empathy, I recall this and that kindness is rarely loud.

Y'all want to hear a fact that really changed the way I thought about homelessness?

Half of all homeless people were in the foster system at some point. Social Workers often call the foster system The Highway to Homelessness. If you ever had a point in your life where you had to live with friends or family to for a short time to get back on your feet, remember that is a privilege that not everyone had.

@RickiTarr @maddad At age 35, any modicum of comfort in life that I once had was suddenly gone.
With only the clothes on my back, I felt defeated.
To say that the struggle of getting back to having a small bare apartment, and a job that barely covered rent was challenging, is an understatement.
Many of us are closer to this reality than we may want to admit.

@chronomyst A lifetime ago, I came home from a party and went to bed, then dreamt or hallucinated that I was in fact, still at the party.
It was so real, I doubted that I actually had gone home.. So I went home again and went to bed, and then you'll never guess..
Anyway, to this day, I can never be entirely sure if I have made it home yet. 🤷🏼‍♂️

A 55 year old friend just quit his job, sold his house, and all his worldly possessions that can't be carried in his backpack, and headed to the airport.
He may or may not be back in a year.

I love that social media allows us to develop connections with people across town and across the world as if they were next door.

This can also be kind of sad when real friendships are made with people that we will have little chance of ever meeting in person.

Connections nonetheless 😌

Anyway, sometimes my brain creates really sad scenarios, and I play out my reactions to these scenarios, and it makes me really upset, but it's like I'm trying to prepare myself for every possibility even though it's both impossible and destructive.

@dr_a @RickiTarr much of my career involved catastophising.. The ability to forsee potential challenges and avoid them or develop plans to deal with them when they hit. I was good at it.
Always looking for the problems or what might go wrong engages the flight or fight response. Okay in short doses, but really hard to turn off and separate from everyday life, when it has been engaged constantly. This is PTSD territory.

@Lizette603_23 ah yes, the numb extremities can be a challenge. Only left arm / hand numbness for me, so despite excruciating pain, I can still walk in the woods. Biking may be pushing my luck, which I often do anyway. 🙄

Getting agreement to the ceasefire proposal, even one that appears to meet their stated asks, would go against Israel's real intentions.

My wife is pretty excited about her upcoming vacation and all that she will see and experience.. in 4 months.

She has apologized for her enthusiasm several times, figuring that all her talk about it will drive me crazy.

Just the opposite actually. It is what I had hoped for her and it's kind of funny to see.
