If you pretend to be my pal and then reply with insults because I say I try to avoid certain topics because they invariably result in volatile exchanges, well lets just say it's Toodles time.
There's enough stress in our lives. Sometimes it's healthier to alleviate them when you can.
@birdpoof Thank you Bird. 2 things really pissed me off:
1: If I post something GOOD that Biden does, it's still a good thing despite other policies we may disagree with. So by bashing him, it's only helping the other side, & ignoring his accomplishments simultaneously.
Making false assumptions about me never fails to piss me off. If I avoid a topic on social media, it's because it blows up my timeline, results in hostility, all unnecessary. I need not express opinions about everything
@Joe_Hill I already took 2 days! I was only saying that it was too early to be on the receiving end of a nasty toot from someone who previously groveled and hoped I'd never block her.
@garthc Of course. Nobody should be forced to comment about something they don't want to... especially if I know it'll blow up my timelines, create tons of hostility, and take up my time/space.
@GottaLaff Understandable. It really is infuriating when others tell you how to post on your own feed. You get to decide what and how you say it. You don't have some social responsibility.
@GottaLaff Yup. You posted some good news about Biden admin, person replying decided that only one issue matters and thus good news isn't relevant. And then demands you discuss that issue more and not doing so is some failure on your part because you have a "following". After you explained that it's not something you want to discuss but not because you feel a certain way.
They made demands of your time against your expressed wishes. sigh
@dodoandthebrawn Yes, and made false assumptions about my reasons and insulted me in the process. They accused me of being a coward without bothering to ask WHY I didn't want volatility in my TL. Why anyone needs more info on why one wouldn't want that is beyond me.
The good thing about Mastadon is you can enjoy interesting posts without the stress of wading through trolls. Life is too short to deal with the outrage machinery. Hope you keep posting here - we could all use a little positivity…

@GottaLaff I saw some of that exchange and was a bit taken aback. Don't usually see that kind of negativity and insults here. Was tempted to say something to her but realized it would just make things worse and get me pissed off. Don't need that! 🙂
@GottaLaff So sorry to see someone was abusive. Looks like they have some serious issues, but it’s so awful to have that directed at you. What you do here has real value. I hope the day gets better.
@GottaLaff I've used the block feature more freely here than anywhere else ever. It's a true godsend. Am I in an echo chamber? A bubble? No. But it's generally civil and urbane when I disagree with someone.
Yeah, they are out in full force today.
Perhaps too many grouchy people found coal chunks in their stocking yesterday morning (deservedly) and decided to express their anger and disappointment by using us as a target for their rage.
As I mentioned to someone else today, my anti-troll muscles are warmed up and ready to go should you require assistance. Just send out an S.O.S.😉 😀
@GottaLaff Over on FB I had a friend ask why I only have 100 friends there “at my age” having met thousands in my lifetime.
I replied “because no one is important enough ‘at this age’ to let them suck happiness out of my life. If I ever catch myself groaning when I see someone reply or post - I unfriend them.”
What you do for free here - spending your valuable time to keep us informed - is appreciated by those of us that believe your joy is as important as ours.

I agree. If I didn't have the compulsion to share legit news and info, I'd have way fewer followers. (I'm getting nowhere on BlueSky for some reason, which is fine by me). I'm way more lenient here than I could be, with blocking or muting, because meh. But if I didn't want to reach more people with real and important news, I'd be less tolerant and block more.
@GottaLaff I have accounts on BlueSky, Post and Threads as well.
I feel like Post is “different” - it’s more like perusing a news stand than engaging with people.
Threads is having me automatically follow accounts I never followed and insists on showing me stuff from influencers I could care less about.
BlueSky feels like walking through a dinner party where you don’t know anyone. Quiet, lot of murmuring, but not a lot of substance.
I like it here.

@michaelgemar This jerk was someone who groveled the other day because she thought I might be angry at her for how she disagreed with me on something. I reassured her that was not the case, felt very good about our exchanges. Then this happened.
