IMO, the “deep state” is billionaires like Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow et al that have amassed enough wealth since Reagan that they pull the strings in Congress and the SCOTUS.

Someone else pointed it out but ya'll...it's not normal for cops to slam people to the ground and put knees on necks in the course of making a routine arrest.

Please pay attention. They are brutal by choice, not necessity. But also, notice who they brutalize and who they respect. Smh.

Got my parents' tax issues sorted out👍

Field work in Shawnigan has been moved to Sunday morning, due to 2 access points temporarily cut off from backroad wash-outs.

Wet roads, crossing lights across old train tracks & some light traffic - along small, suburban municipal road.

I was hoping today was going to be the day, but we’ve had two days of rain, and in that time I’ve got double the number of flower stalks. And some of the stalks are almost 4’ tall.

When I moved into this apt in 2016 thee were irises in the bed on the No side of my patio and a crappy cedar bush on the south. When they painted the complex two years ago, they yanked out the shrub but ran over the iris bed with cherry pickers and scissor lifts.

Once they were finished, I transplanted some if the damaged tubers on the south side and filled in the empty spaces with tubers from my friend’s house.

Last year was pretty meager, and the flowers changed from purple to yellow and purple. It looks like this year I’ll have the best bloom I’ve ever had. Up from 7-8 stalks to over 20.

Sadly, I think you’ll find that if you step back and look at the big picture, every facet of our society is participating in the global march towards fascism.

That’s why I think re-electing President Biden will only stall the inevitable, if we can even do that.

I strongly suspect that the oligarchs, having come this far and gotten this close, won’t let a paltry election stand in their way of installing trump.

Several of you have asked, why half the Republican party has voted for Ukraine aid today, if the party is against it.

The truth is, many republicans have wanted this aid for months — even Mike Johnson was for it in the beginning.

But Trump wanted Biden’s Ukraine agenda to fail, and very few Republicans dare to go against the tzar, because if they do, Trump will immediately endorse another political candidate in their home district.

But what turned this around was security briefings…

Starting a thread about my life with Cookie, while she’s in intensive care right now in San Francisco. She’s still conscious, but it’s not looking great. Even if she gets to come home I think it’s time to prepare to say goodbye to her.

I was 24 years old. I’d just moved to Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. With the first serious girlfriend I had. We thought it’d be a great idea to get a dog.

A was quickly dismissed at the start. She was among the 7 already selected, she said she was very worried that despite the fact the court ruled to keep jurors’ name secret, she would still be exposed & targeted.

As a veteran rescuer you provably know this but when I spoke to a raccoon rescue about three babies I found in a shrub during a downpour, they recommended kitty milk for them, which I easily found at Petco.

Bosco the mouse I found frozen on my porch, (I can’t believe he thawed out and lived, but he did) and Remy the Rat who showed up on my patio one night. I’m sure he either escaped or was abandoned by a moving neighbor. Totally tame.

Good news: the raccoons were successfully reunited with their mother two days later and Bosco was released as soon as the weather got better.
