The #SupremeCourt on Thurs allowed the use of a #SC congressional map that a lower court said “exiled” thousands of #BlackVoters to carve out a district safer for a #WhiteRepublican incumbent.
"The Pew Research Center has released a report that underscores how the claims that there has been a seismic shift toward Republicans among nonwhite voters have been wrong all along."
Republicans make stuff up, and the purported shift of Black voters to Trump is totally made up. The significant question here is, Why do New York Times and major media outlets amplify this stuff? They surely know better.
#SouthCarolina to use #CongressionalMap deemed #unconstitutional #SCOTUS heard arguments on the redistricting case in Oct but has yet to rule🤬, essentially running out the clock for the #2024election. A #federal#court ruled Thurs that time had run out to draw a new congressional district in #SC & said the state could use its existing map even though it had earlier determined that map was unconstitutional.
The panel of 3 judges last year concluded that #SouthCarolina’s #Republican-led #legislature “exiled” 30k #BlackVoters from the district to make it safer for a #White#GOP incumbent, Rep #NancyMace. #SC appealed, & both sides asked #SCOTUS to expedite the case to ensure a final ruling was in place well ahead of #election season. The justices heard arguments in October but have yet to rule.
🥥 "Donald Trump supporters have been creating and sharing AI-generated fake images of black voters to encourage African Americans to vote Republican."
"The co-founder of Black Voters Matter, a group which encourages black people to vote, said the manipulated images were pushing a "strategic narrative" designed to show Mr Trump as popular in the black community. 🥥 #Voting, #AI, #BlackVoters, #Trump, ##2024Election, #AfricanAmericans, #TuckersBalls https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68440150
"Dozens of fake, artificial intelligence-generated photos showing Donald Trump with Black people are being spread by his supporters, according to a new investigation. …
The co-founder of Black Voters Matter, Cliff Albright, said the AI-generated photos appear to be part of a resurgence of disinformation tactics used in the 2020 election targeted toward the Black community."
In case you were in any doubt about who is disproportionately affected by Republican-driven laws that voters have i.d. in order to vote, wonder no more:
"Black Americans and Hispanic Americans are disproportionately less likely to have a current driver’s license."
Michael Harriott asks why, when the media and polling groups obsess about Black voters and the possibility they'll vote for Trump (not going to happen, Harriott says), they are totally silent about the people who REALLY empower Trump: white voters.
"The same organization (Pew Research) that said that thing about the 'important role' of Black voters in 2024 knows that 55% of non-Hispanic whites voted for Trump in 2020, while 92% of Black voters, 59% of Hispanics and 7% of Asians voted for his opponent. Political scientists concede that white voters of both parties are more likely to switch parties when the candidate is Black. The New York Times article about Black voters drifting to the GOP didn’t even mention white people!"
