Stone on the shore of the North Branch of the Chicago River. A world contained in every opening. You never know what you might find if you only look closely.
Next to the Chicago River, during heavy rains. I think this is air pressure coming out of the Deep Tunnel system? Or, somebody cast a summoning spell. #chicago#chicagoriver
An old photo from last year. This is 300 S. Wacker Drive in the Loop. It was a pretty nondescript building up until about 2014 when they decided to put a striking mural map of the Chicago River.
Alley entrance to Rockwell on the River in Avondale. We were wandering by yesterday and went down the alley while waiting for a car. It is a large event complex with a coffee roaster, a brewery, a distillery, and event spaces. It reminded us of a large souk in the Persian Gulf. I liked it because it is a creative example of the reuse of former industrial spaces in many cities worldwide.
The West Lake Street Bridge dates to 1916. It was the very first double-decker bascule bridge constructed over the #ChicagoRiver. The tracks are on the upper level, while the lower deck is for cars and pedestrians.
