Another photo from our trip to the River Walk on the North Branch of the Chicago River. One of my favorite spots in Chicago!

Stone on the shore of the North Branch of the Chicago River. A world contained in every opening. You never know what you might find if you only look closely.

Next to the Chicago River, during heavy rains. I think this is air pressure coming out of the Deep Tunnel system? Or, somebody cast a summoning spell.

flaps coming up and down, making an ominous, marching rhythm. the flaps cover a 20-foot wide vent, surrounded by chain link fence

An old photo from last year. This is 300 S. Wacker Drive in the Loop. It was a pretty nondescript building up until about 2014 when they decided to put a striking mural map of the Chicago River.

Alley entrance to Rockwell on the River in Avondale. We were wandering by yesterday and went down the alley while waiting for a car. It is a large event complex with a coffee roaster, a brewery, a distillery, and event spaces. It reminded us of a large souk in the Persian Gulf. I liked it because it is a creative example of the reuse of former industrial spaces in many cities worldwide.
