Any nerds out there? Found this picture I took down in the Big Bend region of Texas. I get that the effect is caused by harder layers of stone that resist the erosion more than the others. Question is what are the harder layers made of and why do they form in somewhat regular intervals?

@cliffwade @cliffwade I know there is a 5 minute built in delay to allow you to edit and change your mind. It will be interesting to see how it scales given the chatty nature of the activitypub protocol, but I bet running out of servers/bandwidth is probably not an issue for Meta.

  1. Trying something new here. As a self-taught pianist it's hard to get good feedback and tips. I had considered posting my practices, but who really wants to watch other people do scale and chord inversion exercises. Instead I thought I would start posting repertoire run throughs where either I'm getting close and want feedback or am struggling to see if any one has any tips.

  1. If nothing else, I thought it would be a nice way to monitor progress to make sure I'm progressing in my practice sessions.

Today, I was working on Satie's - Gymnopédie No. 1 which I’m getting very close on note wise, though I forgot my place in the first half. Still struggling with dynamics especially starting off and keeping a flowing but steady rhythm. Any tips or suggestions?

Continuity Camera is not working on my iPhone 15 Pro (with latest iOS 17) only in FaceTime on my Monterey M1 Mac mini. However, I can access it within Camo and it works fine with my M1 MBA. Has anyone seen this error and cleared it? I have reset the Handoff setting in iOS 17. It works fine everywhere except FaceTime in Monterey. Yes, I rebooted!

@glennf Mine isn’t working with my IPhone 14 Pro on my M2 Mac Mini Monterey. I can use continuity camera in the pages app but not in FaceTime.

Nice summary of the current state of LLMs in a non-technical sense. My observation is that the bloom quickly falls from the rose once you start working with them regularly. They are repetitive, make silly mistakes and frequently don’t save the time you hoped they would. What they aren’t is creative or surprising.

oh boy!!! I get to predict that Apple will make YET ANOTHER exception for Musk’s abhorrent stances on the App Store and look the other way when it comes to the removal of blocking. I’m currently 3/4 with such predictions.

@gedeonm. I have read that rule from Apple three times and I don’t think it says what people think it says. It says that the service must be able to block users, not that individual users have to be able to block others. However, I seem to remember when I posted my social app way back when, that they had me send them a demonstration of the block feature, so I could be wrong.
