#DuranDuran last night at #CruelWorld24 was fantastic. But I've come to the conclusion that Simon Le Bon is beginning to look more and more like Malcolm McDowell.
When I was born, a lot of bands and genres started to take off. #Madonna was on the rise, #DuranDuran were big, #BonJovi released their debut, but also #ThrashMetal was determined to conquer the world.
Another thing that was big was #HairMetal, so here is a fine example of joyfully cheesy heavy sounds:
I was born in a cult and a kid made a wireless radio (like in a POW camp) and we would gather around and listen to Casey Casum in our cult in Demnark at night.
First movie was Jurrasic Park when I left after turning 17. In a theatre. First time in a theatre. Fucking Jurassic Park!
40 years ago this week, "New Moon On Monday" by #DuranDuran entered the #Top10 and peaked at 10. Apparently, there were several videos of different lengths, up to the 17-minute "cinema" version with more dialogue. If you can track down the "Greatest" DVD, it includes all but one of them. Personally, 5 minutes is enough for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3a4OTh2Y8w#1980s#MusicHistory#MusicVideo
I've seen it numerous times already, but there's no better way to spend my Saturday night than with #DuranDuran on BBC2 right now. #GrahamCoxon will be putting in an appearance soon, win win 😀
Duran Duran released "Danse Macabre," a 13-track Halloween album of dark original tunes and covers (think Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer") today. The A.V. Club has ranked the Wild Boys' 30 greatest songs in this slide show. Which do you think they selected as No. 1? Tell us in the comments if you would have picked something different.
