I laughed at the comment earlier that both #RobertDeNiro and #JodieFoster were both nominated for Taxi Driver, and she was young enough to be his daughter, and both are nominated for different films tonight, but she's too old now to be his wife. #Oscar#Oscars#AcademyAwards
Finished True Detective season 4. Overall I enjoyed the dark and moody atmosphere and the performances, particularly by Jodie Foster, Kali Reis and Finn Bennett, but I thought the momentum caved in (pun intended, for those who've seen it 😉) at the end. The revelations in the final episodes felt rushed and unnecessarily far-fetched.
«Las movilizaciones en redes para destrozar un producto audiovisual en los agregadores de críticas, que ya han tenido víctimas como ‘La sirenita’ o ‘El señor de los anillos’, se ceba ahora con la serie de Jodie Foster en la que hay, según algunos hombres, muy pocos hombres»
Jodie Foster grew up in Hollywood. Now 61, she was recently nominated for a Golden Globe and is expected to be up for an upcoming Oscar. Speaking to Air Mail’s Nancy Jo Sales, the actress looks back at the time a shooter attempted to assassinate President Reagan on her behalf — and discusses the unexpected perks of being an older woman in Hollywood. https://flip.it/r_jm1K #Culture#Entertainment#Hollywood#Film#JodieFoster
Update: The Drake Equation I didn't know! ---
Original Post: Whoa. How did I not know of the similarity until today -- as I continue watching Star Trek TOS for rhe first time in full -- of a line in S1E15 that is similar to the recurring theme that Ellie (Jodie Foster) speaks to in Contact (based on Carl Sagan's book) remembering what her dad told her.
Particularly this exchange:
Ellie: You know, there are four hundred billion stars out there, just in our galaxy alone.
If only one out of a million of those had planets, and just of out of a million of those had life, and just one out of a million of those had intelligent life; there would be, literally... millions of civilizations out there."
Palmer Joss : [looking at the night sky] Well, if there wasn't, it'd be an awful waste of space.
And now Doctor McCoy, to Kirk in the first episode featuring the Romulans and a possibility of war.
McCoy:
"Something I seldom say to a customer, Jim
In this Galaxy, there's a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets.
And in all of the Universe 3 million million galaxies like this.
And in all of that, perhaps more, only one of each of us.
Don't destroy the one named Kirk."
Did Carl Sagan, or the writers of the movie, include this as a nod to Star Trek? Reversed in a way...
#IssaLópez, the creator, says she "...loves a good #murder—though not just any #whodunit will do. “I’m not so much of a fan of the cozy #mystery,” she explains. “I like the dark, fucked-up mystery.”
🥥 It's just like my opinion, man, but you're not REALLY on the #Fediverse until #KeanuCharlesReeves follows you.
And whatever you do, DON'T mess with his puppy!
PS: He followed ME yesterday. 🥥
