Starting February 2024, this version of Gmail (Basic HTML Gmail) will no longer be supported, and you'll automatically start using Standard Gmail. What date in February, who can say. The record number of visits to the #killedByGoogle graveyard - not to mention the myriad protests and rallies - would result in freeway traffic screaching to a hault if we told you. We simply can't afford to give the bygone feature an extreme amount of resurfacing publicity on its way out.

For those watching at home, the current date is March 4th, and basic html is still alive and kicking. It looks like the Google service killer may have been #killedByGoogle, at least temporarily. This is a logic loop of epic proportions. Duck and cover, #killedByGoogle graveyard visitors! Lol.

Firefox users are reporting an 'artificial' load time on YouTube videos. YouTube says it's part of a plan to make people who use adblockers "experience suboptimal viewing, regardless of the browser they are using."
I’m guessing that it is probably them being comfortable with their niche, and they don’t think they can break into the YouTube model the same way YouTube couldn’t break into the Twitch model with YouTube Gaming (#killedbygoogle)
Google is reportedly cancelling their AR project Iris. I REALLY HOPE Iris was their mixed reality ski goggle headset, and not the simpler glasses shown here demoing real time translation. https://youtu.be/lj0bFX9HXeE
I owned the Focals by North glasses, and I can't tell you how transformative that experience was. It was NOT any kind of real AR. It was a simple heads up display, with a UI like a smartwatch, but at eye level. It was amazing.
I truly believe we're skipping an INCREDIBLY important step trying to race to magic sci-fi AR. So many interactions with our technology would be wonderfully streamlined with a simple graphic or text at eye level.
YouTube Says New 5-Second Video Load Delay Is Supposed to Punish Ad Blockers, Not Firefox Users (www.404media.co)
